What Parents Say
Little Years Daycare receives mixed reviews with strong polarization. Parents with positive experiences praise the caring staff, educational programs, potty training support, and affordable pricing. However, several parents reported serious concerns about infant care quality, staff engagement, safety practices, and director professionalism.
My daughter loves Little Years. She's been there since turning two, and will now enter their pre-school program. There is nothing like hearing "i cant wait to go to school" and "are we there yet" on the morning commute. The teachers are loving, nurturing and supportive! They even helped us potty train. We love them all dearly and they have become part of our family.
I pulled my son from this daycare after just 4 days. The teachers in the infant room did not interact with the babies. I had an uneasy feeling and spent a few hours there over the course of these 4 days. My time in the morning was spent watching the other infants on the floor, while the teachers talked amongst themselves. They were left to lay on the mat with no stimulation. My time in the afternoon, when I would drop in unannounced, was spent observing caregivers who spoke little English and also just sat looking bored while the children played. During my tour months earlier, I was promised circle time and baby sign language lessons. This was clearly not what was being delivered. I would have been happy if any of the teachers had shown any of the children some attention - even if they had just faked it while I was visiting. This did not happen. Not once. Additionally, there was the risk of inhaling Danielle's (the director) cigarette smoke when you entered or left the building. On the fourth and final day, I entered the room to pick up my son who was napping in the crib with a blanket over his face. He was just 5 months old. The American Academy of Pediatrics does not recommend sleeping with a blanket in the crib until 12 months of age to reduce the risk of SIDS. There was simply no excuse for this. This is a poorly run facility and I felt that my child's health and safety were at risk. As someone who works with and loves children, I seriously urge you to look into other centers.
My son went to little years daycare at the age of 1.5 until he went to Kindergarten. I have a new baby and will place him there again when he is also 1.5 year old. Pros: the director is strict on staff, someti.es too much. The teachers are caring and teach them a lot. My son learned more at the Pre-K program than the blue ribbon school we are at. They helped him become potty trained. There is a routine that helps children. My son learned about sharing, eating with others, rules, and consequences. You can drop your child at 7 and pick up by 6 with no extra charge. If you are a teacher you can pull your kid for the summer and you do not have to pay for those days in the summer. Cons: the director sometimes does not have people's skills and we did get sometimes into disagreements with each other. The director does smoke so you can smell her no matter how much gum she chews. She does it farthest from the premises and away from children. I don't like but it's her personal choice.
My twin boys went to little years for two and half years and we absolutely love this place. Our kids learned so much when they were in the day care. They listened to our concerns and worked with the boys on all our concerns. The staff and management is very friendly. Besides they are cheaper than some of the other day cares in the area. With two kids fee was a concern for us. We would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a day care in the area.
Horrible, Rude, Mean to kids and Danielle is really something. There is a reason why all kids only go here for 1 year. By far the worst daycare that I have ever experienced.
