What Parents Say
Little Brick School House receives mostly positive reviews praising the warm, welcoming environment and staff dedication, particularly owners Joy and Kelly. However, two negative reviews cite staffing concerns, overcrowding, and issues with behavioral management and parent communication.
If I can get this preschool 10 stars, I would! Joy and Kelly specifically are absolutely amazing and go way above and beyond to make the children and families feel comfortable going there. Like most parents probably, I’m highly productive of my child. My my child has been mostly just around family all four years of life and as a result is extremely shy. I am also highly protective and never have left him with anyone outside of immediate family. Needless to say, we were both very nervous about him starting preschool and daycare. I had the opportunity to pick between. And another preschool in town that is highly recommended. I went to the other preschool. I was very excited., And had a lot of inquiries. Within 30 minutes I was completely drained, mentally, and emotionally from the staff members and principal coming off as very irritated and annoyed with me. Shortly after enrolling my son off at preschool, I got a call from Joy, the owner of Little brick schoolhouse, informing me that there was a spot available for my son if we were interested. I decided to check the place out, as this daycare was also highly recommended from a lot of people around town. Immediately, I could feel a totally different energy. Even over the phone there was a HUGE difference. Joy offered to stay late to let me come check the school out. When I got there, I was instantly welcomed by warm, smiling faces. Kelly answered ALL of my questions and assured me that even with how shy my son was, that things would be just fine. After only 1 week of attending, my son came out of his shell a very noticeable amount. He absolutely loves his school and always looks forward to going. I only have my son every other week, as I have split 50/50 custody of him with his dad. Joy was more than willing to work with our semi-unique schedule and made accommodations for him to still attend school and daycare here. As you can probably tell, our family LOVES little brick schoolhouse and I have been recommending it to everyone I know! If you’re thinking of coming here, I say absolutely do it! You will not be sorry!!
dont bring your child in this daycare. You are wasting your money. The have short staff overcrowded . I brought my chikd there call me i need to pick up my child because playing fish tank. I mean why they have fish tank inside the daycare and cared about fish. The are not prioritized of childrem threre.and also can cause accident ....
My son attended Little Brick Schoolhouse right after they opened. I am so thankful to have a place my children love and look forward to attending. I counted down the days until my daughter turned three and could attend there too. Its the type of place you feel welcomed to come to and are always encouraged to come check on your child any time. My children are upset the days my husband is home as they will not be attending those days. Its a great feeling knowing my children are loved for and cared by people who don't just view this place as a job. I highly recommend them to anyone preparing their children to attend school as my son was advanced when it came to entering Kindergarten. I could keep going on and on about how happy I am to have my children attend Little Brick but my biggest recommendation would be to stop by and see for yourself!
Very frustrated we had with our experience at Little Brick Schoolhouse. Our children have been in daycare centers since they were newborns. We have never had any issues with a daycare center before this. I was asked to come pick up my 4 year old son because of a tantrum that could have been appropriately dealt with using behavioral techniques. I am a psychiatric provider, and have never been more frustrated with the emotional/behavioral care that my children have received. Also, calling a parent in the middle of a work day and asking them to pick up a child for a tantrum is absolutely ridiculous. I was told by the owner, "well, our other kids do not do this." The first day we walked into a preschool room, a kid came up to my son and was repeatedly punching him, so this is not true. 4 year olds will act out, and have tantrums. Do not bring your kids to this school unless you want to miss work for half of a day due to a tantrum.
Our youngest child qualified for a grant for free tuition through another preschool in town, but we had heard amazing things about Little Brick Schoolhouse, so we decided to send her there instead. I'm so glad that we did, because she has learned more than we could have ever imagined! Within the first couple months of school, our daughter knew all of her letters, was coming home and telling us about rhyming words (bat and cat), had learned the foundations of number sentences, and could write her name. Halfway through the school year, she knew almost all of the letter sounds, could identify which primary colors made certain secondary colors, read a couple sight words, identify and write her numbers through 10, and so much more! We aren't even finished with the school year yet, and it has already far surpassed my expectations! In addition to the high standards that are set for the children there, it is also a loving and caring environment. Joy Yurcina is an amazing teacher, who truly cares about her students, and you can tell that she loves what she does. As a first grade teacher myself, I was blown away by how much our daughter had learned in such a short amount of time, and I have no doubts that she will surely be at the top of her class when she starts kindergarten in July, and it's all thanks to Joy! Sending her to Little Brick Schoolhouse was the best decision we ever made, and it was worth every penny and then some!
