What Parents Say
This is not a daycare center—it is a fitness facility (Life Time Fitness) that offers childcare and kids' activities as amenities for members. Reviews are overwhelmingly positive, praising the clean, well-maintained facility, friendly and professional staff, excellent swimming programs, and diverse fitness classes. One member reported issues with excessive eucalyptus levels in the sauna causing health problems.
Small but mighty. Small space, but extremely well organized. It’s clear the staff takes great care of the facility—everything is very clean and well maintained. The studios, in particular, are in excellent condition, making it a pleasure to work out here. I was pleasantly surprised by how good this location is, especially compared to the Centreville Lifetime, which seems to be going downhill. The Centreville location could definitely take notes from Fairfax.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our family has been members of Life Time Fitness since 2020, and we truly love it. The facility is always clean, spacious, and well-maintained, and the amenities make it feel like so much more than just a gym. We especially enjoy the pool, the kids’ activities, and the childcare — it’s such a game-changer to be able to exercise (or take a class, swim, or just have a little quiet time) while knowing the kids are safe and having fun. Another bonus is the small café on-site. It’s perfect if you want to bring your laptop and get some work done before or after your workout. Overall, it’s been a great experience for our whole family and we highly recommend it!
I’ve been going to Lifetime Fitness for over 13 years, and Zach is by far the best Aquatics Manager I’ve seen. He takes the time to talk with everyone and really gets to know the members. His staff is well-trained, friendly, and professional, and the pool and sauna are always spotless — which is a major factor for me. Zach is also great with kids and makes swim lessons fun and engaging. I especially appreciate the small basketball hoop he added to the pool area — such a thoughtful touch that members of all ages enjoy. You can tell he truly cares about creating a great experience for everyone. Keep up the excellent work, Zach! Lifetime is lucky to have you.
As a parent, this is now the second time I have experienced issues at the Kids Academy related to a lack of professionalism and proper supervision. When we first joined Life Time, we had an open conversation with the manager about our 5-year-old autistic son. He was very understanding and supportive, and that level of care and inclusivity was a major reason we decided to join. Recently, my husband had to leave his workout early after receiving a voicemail from a staff member named Kira stating that our son needed to be picked up immediately because she claimed he had stepped on a toddler. When my husband arrived, he felt the interaction was neither respectful nor empathetic. He was told that our son needed to leave right away, without a clear or professional explanation or discussion of the situation. My husband respectfully asked if he could finish the remaining 30 minutes of his workout while the matter was addressed, but Kira refused and insisted that they leave immediately. Based on repeated interactions, we are beginning to feel that our son is being unfairly singled out. Additionally, if a toddler was present with older children, that raises serious concerns about supervision and proper age separation. At other locations we attend, children are placed in designated areas based on age groups, and we have never experienced these kinds of issues. Currently, the Fairfax location appears to lack adequate leadership, as the Kids Academy Leader position remains vacant, and there seems to be insufficient oversight from management. We spend approximately $300 per month for our membership, and the last thing we expected was to feel unwelcome or be asked to leave the gym in this manner. My infant will soon be joining the academy, and this situation has left me genuinely concerned about the safety and supervision of all children. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and implements the necessary improvements to ensure a safe, professional, inclusive, and well-supervised environment for all families.
I switched to Lifetime from another gym because of the quality of their facilities and services. Recently, however, they converted the entire basketball court into paid pickleball courts. I used to warm up on the basketball court, but now the space has been completely repurposed to generate extra revenue. On top of that, I can no longer use certain machines unless I upgrade to a Signature membership. I’m already paying $140 a month, which should be more than enough, but when I asked about access, I was told it would cost an $240 per month to use both the machines and the pickleball courts. It feels like they’re taking advantage of members. Because of this, I’ve decided to cancel my membership and will be joining One Life instead. Best of luck—with what has truly become the worst customer service experience I’ve had at a gym. Cleanness is getting worse with no supervision.
