This place is a perfect example of how a building labeled as a “church” does not automatically contain good people. Liberty Baptist Church presents itself as a place of worship and kindness, but in reality, my experience was the exact opposite. The atmosphere was hostile, judgmental, and outright disturbing. Instead of warmth or respect, I was met with behavior that felt aggressive and demeaning. The level of hypocrisy here is shocking. These are people who preach love, morality, and faith, yet their actions reflect intolerance and hostility. It felt like kindness was conditional—only extended to those who look, act, or think a certain way. Anyone outside that narrow box is made to feel unwelcome, uncomfortable, or judged. No one should walk into a place of worship and leave feeling angry, disrespected, or targeted—but that’s exactly what happened. This was not a spiritual environment; it was an unpleasant and toxic one. If you’re looking for genuine compassion, humility, or basic human decency, this is not the place. Calling this a church feels insulting to what a church is supposed to represent.
God told me don’t worry about how you say it. Long as I tell my story….. 😇 Pastor is a wolf!!!! 🐺 If you know something, say something. Stay safe it’s a cold world. 🌎 Tips to finding a good trustworthy church! ⛪️ 1. Define What Matters to You: Clarify your beliefs and values. Consider denomination, theology, worship style, community involvement, or doctrinal positions. 2. Check Doctrinal Statements: Most churches have a statement of faith on their website. Read it carefully to ensure it aligns with your beliefs. 3. Visit More Than Once: Attend a few services to observe consistency in teaching, leadership, and community behavior. 4. Pay Attention to Leadership: Trustworthy churches have transparent, accountable leadership. Avoid places with excessive focus on a single personality or secrecy around finances or decisions. 5. Evaluate the Teaching: Good teaching is biblically sound, balanced, and not manipulative. Be cautious of fear-based or prosperity gospel messages. 5 A. Leviticus 19:29 – “Do not degrade your daughter by making her a prostitute, or the land will turn to prostitution and be filled with wickedness.” • God’s law strictly forbids encouraging or participating in prostitution. 6. Assess Community Life: Are the people welcoming? Is there genuine care and opportunity to grow spiritually? Healthy community is a good sign. 7. Ask Questions: Don’t hesitate to ask about the church’s mission, leadership structure, financial transparency, and community involvement. 8. Research Online: Look for reviews, sermons, or social media presence. Be mindful, though, that online impressions can be incomplete. 9. Pray for Discernment: If faith is central to your search, praying for wisdom and discernment can be helpful. Seek guidance and forgiveness so God can heal your heart and give you peace and understanding.
My sister, brother and I went to LCS in the early to mid 70’s because Council Christian Academy was either partly funded or partly operated by the Klan. When my dad heard that he was like “um NOPE”! and yanked my brother and sister out of there. I was still in kindergarten so I never went to CCA. My teachers were Mrs Taylor for 1st grade , Mrs Lord for 2nd grade and Mr Clark (very mean) for 3rd grade. My first and second grade teachers were pretty nice but I remember Mr Clark was a bitter mean teacher. Overall I’d say it was a good school that held on to traditional conservative values. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have abandoned those principles but I hope not. I had my first crush; Darlene Tilly but later found out that she was murdered in the early 80’s. Sad. Just absolutely sad. I hear nobody has ever been caught for her murder. That’s even MORE sad.
My family dropped in on a Sunday night. Great church. Everyone was friendly and made us feel right at home. The Bible was preached and God's Son was magnified. This is a good church.
Liberty Baptist Church is the home of Liberty Christian School. They provide a top quality Christian education for Durham and surrounding counties. They do not receive funding from the government and therefore don't follow government guidelines. They only did virtual learning for a short period of time before the children return to school in person while the public schools children were still struggling to learn from home. They have a good Athletics program and the children have a better student to teacher ratio and have a higher grade point average then public School children. R. Markham
