This is truly the best little neighborhood preschool — a hidden gem — and your kiddo happens to learn German along the way. The teachers are all long-tenured and incredibly dedicated and thoughtful. The classroom is lovely and calm and child-focused. The kiddos spend much of the day outside, go on neighborhood adventures in small groups, and do lots of hands-on art, singing and reading. We’ve had two kids go to Kinderstube and can’t recommend it highly enough!
Such a fantastic preschool! The staff are so lovely and attuned to the kids (and most have worked there for many years). The space is simple but perfectly set up for 3- to 5-year-olds. Even if you aren’t looking for an immersion program, you should strongly consider Kinderstube. (And if you are, then you’re in luck!) We have sent two kiddos here, and they both adore it. We do too!
We abolutely adore Kinderstube and its staff!! Our 4 year old just finsihed his first year there and is now attending the summer program. He went from being shy and sceptical about school (we traveled a lot in the first 3 years of his life and he wasn't used to a preschool setting) to a big time school enthusiast! He is excited to go to Kinderstube every day, made wonderful new friends and loves his teachers to pieces. I am Austrian and so impressed with the teachers' German skills and their ability to naturally speak German with the kids. It makes all the difference for our little one's language skills. But mostly, they are just so so good at creating a welcoming, warm, open hearted atmosphere for the kids. I think it's extra ordinary how happy and balanced those children are, whenever we get a glimpse at drop off, pick up or one of the fun school activities. We couldn't be happier we found Kinderstube, thank you! Danke für alles!!
Our kiddo gets lots of outdoor playtime and has built really special connections with the teachers. The school does a wonderful job of keeping us in the loop through regular photos and newsletters, which we really appreciated. The German Immersion aspect is such a unique and valuable part of the program. We also love that there’s no screen time and that the environment has a calm, Montessori-inspired feel. Highly recommend!
We are so thankful that our daughter spent her preschool years at Kinderstube! The children learn German naturally because they feel so welcome, comfortable and encouraged to explore and try new things. The teachers are amazing at creating a warm, enriching environment through ritual and routine, as well as structured free time to developed social-emotional skills. Our daughter “played school” after coming home most evenings, making a “Morgenkreis” (morning circle) with her stuffed animals, and singing them the same songs they sang at Kinderstube and helping them “check in” the same way she did every morning. They learn German naturally through these comforting routines because when they know what to expect their brains have space to LEARN new things. Even if your child won’t continue with German after preschool, developing their social- and school-readiness skills while also learning another language is wonderful for their brain development. Kinderstube is one of the best things we did for our daughter - we highly, highly recommend!
