I don’t even know where to begin, because thinking about this place still makes my heart hurt. I trusted Larchmont KinderCare with my daughter, my whole world.. and they failed her in the most terrifying way. My child has a severe seafood allergy, something I wrote down, repeated, emphasized, and begged them to take seriously. And somehow… they still fed her fish sticks. Do you know the panic that hits a mother when she finds out her child could’ve had a life threatening reaction because the people responsible for her care simply did not care enough to pay attention? That’s a feeling I wouldn’t wish on anyone. And that wasn’t the only problem. Instead of nurturing her or trying to understand her, they constantly called me, blaming her for normal child behavior, making it seem like everything was somehow her fault. There was no patience, no compassion, and barely any supervision. It felt like they saw her as a burden.. not a child who deserved love, safety, and attention. Every day I dropped her off, I felt a knot in my stomach, and I tried to ignore it… until I couldn’t anymore. It became painfully clear that this center is more about collecting a paycheck than caring for children. Where are the childcare workers who actually love what they do? Who treat kids like humans, not problems? Who take allergies seriously and don’t put children in danger? Pulling her out was the best decision I ever made. She’s now enrolled through the district, and the difference is night and day. She’s happier, safer, and thriving - everything she never got at KinderCare. I’m sharing my experience because no parent should have to go through the fear, frustration, and disappointment that I did. Your child’s safety and well-being should never be up for gamble. Unfortunately, at Larchmont KinderCare, that’s exactly what it felt like.
This is going to be a long review but I will include everything I was looking for as a first time mother, a first time daycare user, and now a daycare and Pre K mom. The (assistant) director Ms Jade is REMARKABLE. I can not say enough good things about her. She works herself to the absolute bone to make sure that the students have a great day everyday. She goes above and beyond to keep parents included, from making phone calls to throwing parties to planning field trips. I am not an easy parent; I call way more than is necessary and am nervous about everything (literally no need but I am who I am), but she answers every call with patience, kindness, and grace. She is always available to talk at drop off/pick up and has taken many of my phone calls throughout the day. She addresses issues (though rare) promptly and effectively. If she doesn’t know the answer (again, rare) she finds out and gets back to you by end of day. She knows all the kids by name. Just truly a wonderful woman to have around my kids everyday. There are three different age based classrooms plus two Pre K classes. My son has been in all of them and is now in Pre K there, and my daughter has been in two of them. Each class has a curriculum (which seems a little silly for babies and one year olds but just stick with me here). My kids are SO friendly and outgoing. My three year old can hold conversations with adults. My one year old names colors and body parts; she jumps with two feet in the air. So while “curriculum”seems crazy, whatever they’re doing is working. Turn over for a while was high, but over the past 6 or so months I feel like they’ve done a great job of retaining an amazing group of core teachers who are kind, trustworthy, and caring (Miss Savitha, Miss Onyx, Miss Tina, Miss Nikihla, Miss Divya). Little things are done consistently like nose wiping, hand washing, singing, reading, etc. The teachers clean the classrooms like crazy, or at least it seems to me. We all know that daycares are gross because kids are gross but in my three years at this building one of my kids caught HFM one time; truly a blessing and can only be attributed to the consistent cleaning. The doors are always decorated with cute scenes/kids pictures/fun themes. Class projects are sent home regularly. There are “centers” in all the classrooms with specific focuses like dramatic play, art, reading, building, etc. Kindercare has an app through which three-ish photos a day are sent; you can also see their meals (cooked in house by the one and only Ms Jade), naps, supplies requests, and potty breaks. They do keep up with it pretty frequently and I love so much getting pictures of my kiddos throughout the day to see how they’re doing. You can also message the teachers and directors through the app. Ok now the nitty gritty: the cost. Kindercare is PRICEY, I can’t lie about it. BUT the kids get breakfast, lunch, and snacks; the baby room has Gerber baby food (you can bring breast milk which was a HUGE concern of mine. I never once had any problems with them using my milk; not even a single spill). Full use of the app is of no additional cost. You bring diapers and wipes, sheets/blankets, and a change of clothes. I can honestly say that you get what you pay for. Yes Kindercare is expensive but the way my kids are taken care of day in and day out truly can not be matched. I would not sacrifice this level of care to go to a cheaper school. Overall, I do recommend Larchmont Kindercare. I think the staff are kind and caring. The building is clean, and the classrooms are fun and educational. While expensive, the care meets and exceeds expectations. If you stayed with me this long I hope it helps you reach a decision. I know how it feels to leave your baby for the very first time, all those awful, guilty, scared feelings; but I am so glad that I found Larchmont Kindercare because all those terrible feelings really did turn into positive ones!
I would not recommend this daycare based on our family’s experience. My child was asked to leave after an incident with another child while they were not being adequately supervised. Instead of working with us on strategies or providing support, the daycare chose to remove my child, which felt like placing blame rather than taking responsibility for proper supervision. This was very disappointing and does not reflect the patience, guidance, and accountability I would expect from a childcare provider. Parents deserve to feel confident that their children are safe, supervised, and supported—not dismissed when challenges arise.
My Daughter has been going here for thr last year and half, the teachers are amazing and the Asst Director..Who im my opinion needs to be made the Director Jade is such a sweet and caring person and does an amaizng job!
