I just had to unenroll my daughter because the director called me this morning telling me that my kid has refused to wash her hands and laid down. I understand kids can have a tantrum but she insisted I have to go pick her up because they are short stuffed. AND THEY ARE short stuffed. All the kids from diapers to 4 year olds are in the same room with just two teachers. Yet I still have to pay them even after I get my daughter. This is not the first time this has happened. The new director is rude and after I asked her like will I have to come pick up my kid from a daycare that’s supposed to have teachers who are trained because of a small tantrum? She wasn’t violent or hitting kids or teachers or herself. When I got there to pick up my daughter and get an explanation all she could say was they’re not allowed to do time out and my child has to comply otherwise she is sent home. When I suggested there are other ways to deal with tantrums and she went into a temper tantrum about how she can’t deal with it because there are so many kids. She also tried to change her story that she called me to pick up my daughter because of a tantrum until I told her my phone calls are recorded. Then on the way out she straight out said my daughter has problems and that she should be seen. Who says that! My daughter has been there since she’s was 1 now she’s 4 but this new director is claiming she has problems(which they never mentioned). It’s an expensive daycare where our kids go to sit there and do nothing most of the time. Please management, fix this.
My Goddaughter attended this place…..avoid it! They have limited experience in dealing with children, in the words of the manager “she did not conform” what 3 year old should! Any decent daycare worker would understand a child who Is having a melt down is their way of expressing how they feel. Calling the parent away from work to deal with their child who is laying on the floor crying is telling me not only are they unprofessional but also lack basic child care training. I could understand if the melt down involved a more serious revoke eg throwing chairs but not laying on the floor. Approx 20 children to two members of staff is not good enough. Toddlers are looking after toddlers amusing themselves is that what you want to pay for? No private meeting to discuss the situation, this was done in an open forum in front of the children. Do you want your child exposed to this? Reason being lack of staff! Find a better daycare where your child will not have to “conform” one where your child will thrive. We all know childcare is expensive so choose a place where they teach and, develop your child. One that will invest in their staff that way they won’t have staff shortages! This place certainly doesn’t they just want the dollars!
My daughter was enrolled at Kidnercare over a few months, and we had countless issues with staff, and mainly the manager, Tammy. One incident we had was a time when one of the employees fed my 6 month old daughter food which they knew she was allergic to. This was never reported to their higher up’s as it was supposed to have been, and we were still required to pay for missed days of daycare caused by this issue. There have also been times where workers at the daycare have sent pictures of my daughter laying under a crib (before she was able to crawl). We have to provide diapers, wipes, and food. Our daughter was not fed as often as she should have been, and nor do the amount of diaper changes reflect the amount of diapers that we were required to bring in. When these issues were addressed by my child’s mother with the director, the director did absolutely nothing and told my daughter’s mother she needed to be the one to talk to the teacher and figure it out. The director also has been firing staff, shortening staffs hours, and moving staff from their classrooms in order to give preferential treatment to her nieces she has hired (which is against KinderCare policy).
My daughter has only been going to Muncie KinderCare for a month, but you wouldn't know that by the way she runs into the door each morning. The teachers make her feel safe and wanted. I could see an improvement in her speech in just 2 days. I will continue to recommend this daycare to all my friends and family.
I heard that this is one of the best daycare centers in Muncie. I went to get a tour of the facility and absolutely loved it. Soon after, a couple of my friends and I (we're college students) went to volunteer. They didn't have us sign a sheet to get in so they can keep track of who goes in and out of the building and they also didn't ask us to do any background checks. I know that a lot of college students go there to volunteer and as soon as they didn't ask us to do any background checks, it was a no for me. I am currently looking for a new place in Muncie to take my child. She will not be going to Kindercare.
