Kims Usa Taekwondo

Due to my job, I moved to Amarillo and sought out the (only) Tae Kwon Do school in Amarillo to continue my training. As a 3rd degree Black Belt, I wanted to continue to develop within the martial art and under tutelage of a certified Grandmaster. Unfortunately, it became immediately apparent to me that not only was I placed under the instruction of much younger and held lower degree black belts (with some even junior black belts), I also had to pay sky high tuition in order to continue. After several months of this, and rarely (if ever) seeing the head master of the school to learn anything new for my rank or to see if I am performing my forms correctly, I decided to leave. Much of what this school strives for is the sport and not so much the self defense. It is unfortunate that this was the case.

Don’t go here. Find somewhere else. It was fine in the beginning. The last tournaments we went to, they didn’t provide a coach and the parents couldn’t go down and help the kids. I talked to the master a few weeks ago and told him what my sons plans were, (the olympics) that was on a Thursday and asked if they had one on one classes or what we could do to get him to be ready for tournaments on his own. He said to have him come to two classes a night for two nights a week. The following Tuesday my father-n-law dropped my son off and the master said he canceled the first class and wasn’t going to have it anymore, which not only irritated my father-n-law since he drove there early and had to wait around an hour. He wouldn’t even do the one on one session during that hour. That was our last straw. We moved him to a different sport for the time being to where they will work with my son in sparring and boxing and even offer one on one sessions. When my son went to tell Master Kim bye, he was very rude and said our son wasn’t allowed back there and wouldn’t be allowed in taekwondo again. He told my husband that we are bad parents for letting him quit. (Which we aren’t letting him quit, we are trying to make him better, but it just isn’t with them.) The two coaches they have are amazing but they just don’t work with the kids who are trying to possibly go to the olympics and are serious about the competitions.

This Taekwondo school has given me a sport I have fallen in love with. It is the only TKD school in Amarillo to be officially certified by World Taekwondo. The instructors work hard to give their students the best TKD training possible.

I've been going for quite a while, it's a great experience to have; also Kim's TKD teaches you everything it promises if you're willing to work for it!

Love this place. They teach respect integrity honesty. And they work you out good. With great form.
