Continued Here are three actionable suggestions I feel as a mother with a Doctorate in Psychology that can greatly benefit Chapel Hill Academy: 1. Enhanced Training and Professional Development: Implement regular training sessions for all staff, with a focus on age-appropriate disciplinary methods, emotional intelligence, and classroom management techniques. This can equip teachers, especially those working with younger children, like Ms. Layla and Ms. Tansy, with the skills needed to provide compassionate and effective guidance. 2. Establish Clear Protocols for Discipline and Child Safety: Develop and communicate clearly defined protocols for behavior management that align with recognized standards for early childhood education. This should include appropriate timeout procedures based on age and circumstances, as well as guidelines for supervising children during bathroom breaks. Additionally, instituting a system for regular checks on children's well-being, especially during transitions and moments of potential distress, would foster a safer and more supportive environment. 3. Regular Feedback and Open Communication Channels: Create a structured mechanism for parents to provide feedback and express concerns regularly. This could be done through anonymous surveys or regular parent-teacher meetings to discuss children’s progress and any issues that arise. Furthermore, establishing a transparent communication channel with clearly defined response timelines can help parents feel more engaged and assured that their concerns are taken seriously. This proactive approach can lead to a collaborative environment where parents and educators work together to enhance the children’s experiences and well-being. It is my hope that by adopting these suggestions, Chapel Hill Academy can take meaningful strides toward improving the professionalism and quality of care needed.

My son thrived under the care of dedicated educators (Ms. Velma, Ms. Neda, Ms. Regina) in the younger classes, but our transition to the three-year-old classroom led to a disheartening unraveling of standards and professionalism that no parent should have to endure. Unfortunately, the presence of Ms. Layla and Ms. Tansy in the three-year-old class has turned what was once a joyful educational experience into a distressing episode of neglect and questionable care. It has became glaringly evident that these teachers lack not only the patience expected of individuals working with young children but also the basic understanding of age-appropriate behavioral management. One troubling incident involved my son being subjected to a 20-minute timeout (because he kept taking off his shoes) — a gross misapplication of disciplinary methods. This kind of misguided approach is not only ineffective but borders on emotional neglect. It definitely did not help to learn that he had wet himself during this time and was not provided the appropriate hygienic care. These teachers were not engaged with the kids, but rather on their phones every chance they got despite knowing they are on camera. Equally alarming was an incident where my son was left alone in his underwear on the bathroom floor for approximately 25 minutes with the door closed because they expected him to dress himself (he turned 3 on the 3rd of this month). We are beyond thankful that all of these incidents were captured on camera, however, it must be noted that these individuals have utilized proper placement of open doors to block camera views to do God knows what. Despite the troubling evidence captured on camera and brought to the attention of Ms. Sterling, the Director, there was a distressing lack of empathy, nonexistent accountability or corrective action for Ms. Layla and Ms. Tansy. Her responses were cold and detached when asked how retaliation would be thwarted against my son by simply stating “My girls would never do that.” This failure to address glaring issues or provide communication of any required abilities for the three year olds (in regard to dressing themselves, setting up and dismantling their nap area, etc.) not only undermines the trust that parents place in the academy but raises serious questions about the leadership's genuine concern for the children's welfare. In light of the experiences we have endured in Suite 350, my husband and I felt we had no choice but to unenroll our son. The consistent failure to provide a safe and nurturing environment for our child is unacceptable. We expect better from an institution that claims to prioritize early childhood development, emotional well-being, and foster environments where wisdom grows. To any parents considering Chapel Hill Academy, I urge you to look beyond the initial charm and assess the actual care and professionalism within the classes, especially the three-year-old classroom. Your child's well-being should always come first, and unfortunately, it appears that at Chapel Hill Academy, that priority has been lost in translation.

My daughter will be 2 in April and me and my wife were very skeptical on where to send our daughter for daycare. But in all reality this has been the best decision me and my wife have ever made. They are the best when it comes to child care. From the teachers to the administrators. They are very transparent and always go above and beyond on every aspect plus my daughter loves going. If you want a facility that will treat your loved ones like they are their own. This is the place to enroll them. God bless them!

We enrolled our now 3 year old here almost a year ago and we have been very happy with our decision! The staff has been professional, caring, and kind! I appreciate the camera access and the reassurance I have knowing my baby is in great care with kind people that seem to enjoy working with children. I really like that they allow toddlers to be themselves and support me as a new mom on tips for behavior training when I ask. They actually helped me to work with my toddler on listening skills and reassured me that she is doing just fine and learning boundaries. They have truly become an extension of our family. My child tells them she loves them when I pick her up for dismissal🥹 Thank you Ms. Stacy and Shekanah 💗
