I have so much love for Kids on Maple Street! It has truly been a blessing finding this place to care for my child. We were scrambling to find childcare at the last minute and Kim and her husband Mark welcomed us with open arms. My child LOVES coming in every morning and sometimes hates having to leave because they have so much fun. They walk in looking to hug Kim and Mark, and they look forward to seeing their teachers every day. Our family has received nothing but love from everyone. Kim and her staff are very detail oriented and will communicate if any issues come up. They also provide a health breakfast, lunch, and snack. AND they have passed the food inspection multiple times in a row. My child's education has also improved immensely since they started. We are so thankful to have our child enrolled here and would recommend this facility to our family and friends.
I am so thankful such an amazing daycare exists in Abilene! When my son started he was struggling with potty training and also his speech development was delayed. He is now potty trained and his vocabulary and articulation is well above age level. He loves walking in every morning and the education he’s receiving is well above others. The teachers are amazing with the kids and it shows from the calm environment in the center! Kim and Mark pour their heart and soul into this center but they also love the kids like their own. To know my son is safe, loved, and cared for while I have to work makes me being away from him easier!
In response the our review from Ashlyn Tomlin..... Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience with our daycare didn’t meet your expectations. While we respect every parent's right to choose the best environment for their child, we’d like to clarify a few things for the sake of current and prospective families. Our facility is licensed by the State of Texas and is regularly inspected to ensure we meet all health, safety, and staffing requirements. In fact, we consistently exceed the required staff-to-child ratios so children receive the attention and supervision they deserve. We also work hard to maintain a clean, welcoming space for our little ones, including daily cleaning and sanitizing of toys and classroom surfaces. Health policies—like sending a child home after an episode of diarrhea—are in place to protect all children in our care. We understand how difficult it can be for parents to adjust schedules, but we’re required to follow state health guidelines, and we appreciate when families help us prioritize the well-being of every child. We’re proud of the team we’ve built here—caring, experienced teachers who work hard each day to create a nurturing, respectful environment. Communication with parents is something we always strive to improve, and we welcome open conversations to make sure every child and family feels supported. We’ve been honored to serve many wonderful families in Abilene over the years, and we invite any parent considering care to schedule a visit, ask questions, and see firsthand the love and dedication that go into everything we do. Sincerely, Kim McMillan Owner/Director
My 3year old son has been attending Kids on Maple for the last few months (he began at the beginning of the year). Before attending this daycare, my son had a massive speech delay. He would say simple words, but mostly point and grunt. When he was frustrated he would shit down and cry and nothing soothed him. Within these full 3 months, my son can make clear sentences, “where is the car”, “where is daddy/mommy/sisters”, “mom/dad can you help me”. He can express himself a little more clearly when something makes him upset or he’s sad. He’s also fully potty trained which we were struggling to do from home. The teachers communicate through the Bright wheel app and have always been responsive to any messages I send. Earlier this week, my son skidded his nose while playing outside and I not only received a picture to show me his injury, but I received responses from the teacher when I asked if he needed me or if he was ok. With the “he is doing fine” response, I also received a photo of him smiling and getting ready for his nap. My husband and I prayed for a good place to send our son and we were blessed with Kids on Maple. We owe our deepest gratitude to the whole staff at the daycare, especially Mrs. Kim 🙏🏽 I will recommend this place to any moms who ask where to take their kids for daycare!
I have nothing but amazing things to say about this establishment!! I stayed home with my baby until almost 2 before getting back into work and the fear of letting strangers be in watch all day was as real as it could get. From the day I walked into Kids on Maple I was so comfortable the teachers!! Can’t say more than enough about how they actually teach and play with the kids and do activities, I never see them just throwing toys and playing on their phones (and I pick my little up at all times of any day due to my schedule) The kids are on a schedule everyday, they are not screaming and running about, and they have all the rooms under control as much as you can possibly have a bunch of toddlers. Mrs Kim and Papa Mark (my daughter calls them) are the best, they’re caring and attentive. They work their tails off day in and day out to keep that place looking great inside and out, they’re there first thing in the morning until the end of the day they work hard and their staff is a reflection of that. With them spending ALL day at their daycare they do not keep their employees when anyone runs late THEY typically stay late. They have a strict no late policy, so if you are a person who doesn’t manage time or runs late often this won’t be a place for you, respectfully. I ran late one time learned my lesson and it was understood and respected from there. We all have lives outside of work, including daycare providers. I HIGHLY recommend bringing your littles to Kids on Maple. Things happen when there’s a bunch of kids and germs and sicknesses going around but they clean regularly (you can smell and visibly see that) they send kids home when they NEED to be sent home and really you can just tell they love what they do and that the kids love them. 10/10!! I feel lucky enough to have not been on a waiting list when I needed to get my little in daycare. My little and I love them and this place!!
