Summit Park Church feels like home from the minute you walk into the building! The people are genuine, the preaching is challenging, practical, and biblically grounded, and it’s the most loving and welcoming church I’ve ever been a part of. First Wednesday worship nights are my favorite, full of the power of God! My family and I are so proud to call SPC home. Lee’s Summit is blessed to have such an incredible church in our city!!
We visited your church with our son and his family, they are new to your church and have grown to love it.. ❤️ I have to say I'm a worship girl and you all did not disappoint.. it was AWESOME! And the word was awesome too, I like getting into my Bible, flipping the pages and reading it along with you.. thank you for keeping it real with Bible verses to back up everything you said.. it was not a motivation speak it was the Gospel being taught.. And your church smells absolutely amazing, I need no I HAVE TO KNOW what it is and where I can get the fragrance.. it seriously draws you in.. and just follow the woship.. you all are doing great.. just keep it real with God and keep preaching the word and God will show up everytime.. be blessed
I waited a while to make this review, because I really felt conflicted in my heart and spirit. However, it is necessary. I was attending SP for about 4-5 years roughly. I rarely missed a Sunday, or live stream if I could not be in person. I donated tithe *when I could financially support it*, and supported them in all outside conversations. I brought friends here, and my Fiancé was even baptized here. I love Pastor Scott and the gift he has to preach. There is no changing that. However, in September, my spirit was really challenged, and I decided to leave (mid-worship) and have not been back since. Due to recent political climates, Summit Park unfortunately made their place on the wrong side of society and history, and I had to leave this church. If you aligned with this happening, of course, it did not affect you. I ask you to be open-minded (and place yourself in an opposite spectrum of someone other than yourself) to how one might be traumatized hearing and being asked to stop and PRAY for politicians, political commentators, or political podcasters. I think this is a private matter, and should have been left to the personal prayer teams/ time. Some things are unwritten rules/ off limits & this was one of them. I do not think there is ever a right time to stop your worship and ask your entire congregation to pray for a "political figure," especially in a time when society is already heavily questioning the love and intentions of mainstream/ the common Christian churches. Never ever should I feel compelled to walk out of my church (that I loved and recommended EVERY chance I could) because the pastor has been swayed by politics. If you are reading this thinking "that was not political," then we simply do not align, and I must seek worship elsewhere. Which was heartbreaking, but I will not surround myself with a congregation that cherry picks their prayers, empathy, and what calls their spirit. I felt so upset, I reached out to a member of the church, who I knew was around my age, and worked with the youth pastoral for SP. I was seeking answers and comfort on how I should deal with feeling this way. I was met with speculations, questioning my emotions/ stances. I was told, "That is the demographic of Lee's Summit, and it is what it is," essentially. The God I know does not pick politics over his people. Another instance recently involved my best friend and her SO. He was seeking to be baptized, as we have also brought him every Sunday we could to SP. He was literally (and frankly rudely) questioned about his choice for seeking baptism, and was even ghosted/ not responded to by a member of the baptism team. They eventually did try to reach back out, but for a church that invites first-time goers to join them in baptism, it was weird to ask someone who was a dedicated SP member to define why they know they want to be baptized and if they "understand what this means" as if they just rolled in off the street. I know there is a protocol and practice to follow, and that was not it. All in all, it was a lot to digest, and very off-putting. I do not think I will be back, at least for a while.
Ministry is beautifully done. The music is refreshing, the message is accurate and in detail with supporting scripture. Bring a note pad you’ll want to write it down to ponder the rest of the week. The people are kind, respectful and ready to praise and worship. It’s worth coming to see!
Man, what a family. My wife and I moved to Kansas City about a year ago and the way we were welcome in feels like we’ve known this community for ages. The pastors and staff at SPC are amazing and work hard to bring the Gospel to Lees Summit and the surrounding areas. They preach the truth of who Jesus is and who we’re called to be. If you’re a young family looking for a new church home, I highly recommend this church. They have a fantastic kids ministry and small groups for every walk of life. Get plugged in. You won’t regret it.
