What Parents Say
Ignacio Cruz Early Childhood Center receives mixed reviews. Most parents praise the welcoming environment, staff communication, and developmental progress of their children. However, two parents report serious concerns including inadequate teacher training, lunch provision issues, sudden dismissal without proper notice, and allegations of racial bias in treatment.
My son was very happy at this school, and so was I. We always remember it with love. One the best part of Ignacio Cruz is the welcome every morning with the beautiful energy of the principal.
I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this preschool. The teachers here are under-qualified and seem to lack the necessary training to support my child’s development. Rather than adapting their teaching strategies to suit my son’s needs, they repeatedly suggested that he had neurological behavioral issues without considering other possible factors or making the effort to try different approaches. This lack of understanding and effort was frustrating and disheartening as a parent. Additionally, there were several instances where my son wasn’t provided lunch, which is unacceptable. The final straw came today when they kicked him out of school for not providing a document, giving me only the weekend to figure it out. It honestly feels like they were just looking for any reason to kick him out, as if they were trying to push him out without regard for his well-being or the short notice they gave. To make matters worse, my son didn’t even get the chance to say goodbye to his friends. I’ve also observed that the teachers treat African American children differently than the majority of the Hispanic students. There seems to be a noticeable lack of support and understanding for my child’s needs compared to others, which I believe reflects an unfair and biased approach. I am deeply upset with the way my child has been treated, and I would not recommend this preschool to anyone.
I was very nervous sending my daughter to school for the very first time. She was always home until she had to begin school. I have to say I have had a GREAT experience with Ms Megan Lawton and ALL staff. My daughters teacher, Miss Megan, maintains VERY good communication with ALL parents. She has even helped me with my daughter one on one for certain things we want to improve on. My daughter LOVES her. She was very shy at first and gave me troubles the first week. Now, she is very outgoing and more talkative. I have seen what a difference this school and staff have done for my daughter. I am at ease sending my daughter to this school and have had very easy communication with her teacher her amazing helpers. I believe these are the most important things to have in a school, especially when sending your children for the very first time.
This school’s main goal is NOT your child’s success. They are more worried about being sued rather than teaching and caring for their students. 👎🏼👎🏼
Wonderful school for PreK. My son learned a lot the year he was here.
