What Parents Say
House of the Lord Day Care receives mixed reviews with high praise from some parents for caring staff, but serious concerns from others about facility maintenance, inadequate supervision, inappropriate childcare practices (excessive TV use, children left in cribs or high chairs for extended periods), and mishandling of special needs children. Multiple parents report incidents of neglect and poor communication.
They kicked my autistic 6 year old son with a 2 day notice with no prior indication that they were thinking about doing so. There was no conversation on a game plan to get any potential behavior back into a good place, just don't bring him back. After this while waiting for a spot at another daycare so I can move my 9 month old and keep working, my infant son would have sat so long in a wet diaper that he would have to change outfits multiple times a day from peeing through. This happened multiple days a week. I finally just had to pull my baby because they had the audacity to call CPS for the 9 month old for medical neglect over allergies. They claimed he had an untreated cough and 103 degree fever. But when seen by the doctor, they couldn't find anything wrong with my son and his temp was 98 degrees. I have the medical records printed out to prove this. Do NOT take your kids here. They act fine to your face then pull shady stuff once your back is turned.
My son's first daycare at nearly 2. He screamed and I mean SCREAMED at drop off, I thought it was separation anxiety! His therapist came to do a session with him and later called me and told me what goes on and I was livid. Children under two are arched in highcairsnin front of tv for HOURS. My son, by law, was too old for a crib and they'd leave him in it so they didn't have to deal with him. He's autistic and was nonverbal at the time. Every room has a TV. One day a 8 year old was in the infant section in a rocker, playing on her tablet NO staff anywhere in sight. Most days on pick up, there was no communication and they were often sitting on the floor with after school kids braiding hair or talking and the rest were locked in the smaller classroom with no supervision. I confronted them and they shoved my stuff at me and said to take my son, I did. They only wanted me to pay my bill, which I refused to do. They needed shutdown.
My grandchildren go here part time. I wish they would update and clean the facility. A new fresh coat of paint and a deep clean would do wonders. Also the room where the children are most of their day is so dark the lighting needs an update as well. The staff has been pleasant when I have had interactions with them. I just think the facility needs some care and organizing.
If I could give a negative rating, I would. Understaffed, and truly ignorant on how to deal with children. I came in to pick up my son, and they had him sitting in a high chair watching TV (at 14 months, and his second day there) because he was allegedly hitting a baby. My son regularly interacts with babies, and has never had a problem. Sounds to me like and excuse not to work, and more like neglect...
Great care for my infants. Very caring and compassionate.
