Today yall lost my membership and here’s why I was leaving the gym and I watch this rude employee stalk these cleaning lady’s waited till they was at the teen center and started raising hell asking them who they where and why they was parking up front they simply told her the teen center is closed and they have to carry large trash bags and she threatened there job if they didn’t move the work vehicle because it wasn’t closing time yet she then turned around and closed the doors early at 8:30 so what’s the reason of making that young girl cry for simply doing her job? I heard her say “We will see about that I will have a talk with Logan” and it’s got to be on camera this part is brand new. She then proceeded to stalk them and antagonize them and I will not spend my money at a place that don’t even respect the cleaning lady’s and that was simply uncalled for and this is supposed to be a Christian Place. I don’t tolerate bullying if she’s that miserable with her life she needs to have a check with herself. She’s old got blonde hair and glasses and I took a picture of her when she was stalking them.

I go to the YMCA in Conover as my home gym, but I was over in hickory today and decided to swing by and give this one a chance. This place is more of a College campus than a gym, people laying down on all of the furniture in the hallway with their shoes off. Visually stunning, don't get me wrong, it's beautiful; however the layout of the machines make absolutely no sense whatsoever. The peck deck upstairs even though the bench press is downstairs? The grips on the dumbbells downstairs are completely random, some are sheer metal and thick, some are some like plastic type feeling that spins around the dumbbell itself I don't know if was designed like that or what, and some was just so thin, it made finding my grip mad annoying. This place definitely has potential, they just need to do another floor layout when it comes to machines. If you want a beautiful gym to go to I recommend it, but if you want your workout to be convenient in and out I'd go somewhere else because you're about to be walking around the entire gym trying to get a pump. Or if you just want to play basketball, their basketball court is probably the best basketball court I've ever played on and the running track is legit too.

They have a very very amazing staff and very excellent equipment. Good gym for every type of training except CrossFit. very busy later in the day though so busy. In fact that some people have to share leading to. there's not enough equipment for everyone.

I have been a member of the YMCA for over 30 years. It has always been a welcoming place. The classes become like family and all the instructors are great at showing modifications. No class is ever the same and they have tons of variety for all fitness levels. Personal Training is top notch and has helped me over the years to meet my goals. When down with various injuries it has always been easy to find something to do to keep active. This non-profit is a great way to support my community!

The Hickory Foundation YMCA has great facilities. My only issues are the lack of adequate handicap parking. They only have 4 spots available without having to climb stairs or cross the street. Also the lack of a free swim lane in the pool near the steps and handicap ramp. Even Phifer YMCA of Morganton with smaller facilities and a smaller pool keeps plenty of handicap parking and always has 2 out of 5 lanes open for free swim even though the pool is only 5ft deep at Phifer.
