What Parents Say
Helping Hands N.S. has received mixed reviews with stark contrasts. Three parents praised recent management and staff changes, cleanliness, and learning environment, while five parents reported serious concerns including poor supervision, unprofessional staff conduct, safety issues, and discriminatory practices.
My experience with this daycare was very negative. On one occasion, I found my daughter sleeping on the floor in front of the classroom door, which I found completely unacceptable and very concerning as a parent. When I tried to speak with the owners about what happened, I felt they minimized the situation and seemed more interested in payment than in providing answers or ensuring the children’s well-being. Communication was poor, and they did not give me a sense of trust or responsibility. They also claim that children are placed in classes according to age, but that is not true. If a teacher does not want or cannot handle a child, they simply remove the child from the program instead of looking for solutions or support. It feels like decisions are made for convenience rather than for the children’s development. Additionally, it seems the management cares more about cash payments than about the cleanliness of the facility. The playground is dirty, children come out stained, and the outdoor mats look extremely old. They also do not have security cameras or staff monitoring the entrance, which means anyone could walk in without supervision, something I find very unsafe. The only positive thing I can say is that my daughter was well cared for only in the baby room with Miss Millie and Miss Alexandra, who truly cared about her and always made sure she was fed and clean. Finally, the owners call the same day to have you pick up your child if they say they “can’t control” them, with an attitude that makes you feel like your child is a burden. In my case, I felt my daughter was discriminated against, and they even made comments about her weight even though she is just a small child. Personally, I would not recommend this daycare and advise other parents to research carefully before making a decision.
My daughter has been going to this school September and all I can say is that the teachers are fantastic. The school has gone through significant changes with new management and it has paid off in the way that my child is learning. The teachers are helpful and supportive of all students. I would definitely recommend other parents to enroll their children and see how they shine.
School has recently gone through major staffing changes along with being in the process of renovating/updating the appearance and other assets of the building to best align with the school environment. Would recommend this school to anyone who needs a good loving place to have their child at to learn and grow!
one star for the nice trips they take these kids on once in 6 months. I would not recommend anyone to take their kid there. The girls "working" there just sit around braiding hair all day. Only thing my kid learned from that school is "what the hell". Invest your money into a place where your kid can actually learn something.
The worst school to have you child go to. The teachers and the entire staff is very rude and don’t care. Would never recommend this school to anyone.
