Watching the staff here share with the community is heartwarming. To see the great and wide needs being filled by a staff doing the work what could easily be done by twice as many, yet they make it work. They care about the people they serve, and the work they do.

I got a call to set up an appointment, I am disabled and it’s hard for me to leave my house due to my health condition. I have another adult in the house however they do not drive , do not have a license, but because there is another adult in the house that isn’t “disabled” they won’t/refuse to deliver. But I don’t have money for an Uber or Lyft (hence the fact I need food from a food shelf cuz I can’t afford to go get some) to get him to go pick up groceries. We aren’t on bus lines or close to any of them. The woman I spoke to was VERY rude about it. This was my first time trying this - a friend of a friend of mine recommended it. So I had no idea how all of it worked. And I just felt like the woman was very rude - not to mention she just hung up on me and I don’t know why? I wasn’t being mean or rude back. I was actually tearing up because I was defeated feeling after she said the won’t deliver. So she just straight up hung up on me. I was just needing some help with food. I am going to call back and see what can be done or arranged.

In my experience they're very rude and dismissive. I don't know why that is exactly but I have an idea or two of why.

Food shelf asked me what I didn't want, I said I didn't want meat, then they gave me 2 bags, half of which was meat.
