My grandchildren go to daycare and preschool at The French Académie in Minnetonka and love it! It has been so fun to hear them begin to speak French at home. My two year old grandson says "Non merci nana". So cute! I saw them perform at their little holiday performances again this year for Halloween and the winter holiday performance last year and really enjoyed them! They live in Edina and I believe were originally interested in the Normandale French immersion program, but fell upon this instead. It will be great preparation for Normandale if they should choose that route later. We have been greatly impressed with all the enrichment the program offers, and I love to see what projects they have going throughout the week on social media. We absolutely love the French Académie and the amazing school Veronique has built here. Our kids have thrived in this warm, nurturing, and truly immersive French environment. The teachers are fantastic—kind, patient, and incredibly skilled at making language learning fun and engaging. We’ve been amazed at how quickly our kids have picked up French words, songs, and even conversations. The teachers are all from France so the language immersion the kids receive is incredible. Veronique and her team foster a love for learning while also emphasizing creativity, social development, and cultural appreciation. We couldn’t be happier with our experience and highly recommend this school to any family looking for an exceptional French language immersion program
The French Académie has been a wonderful school for my two children. The youngest one started at 18 months in the toddler class (the "Tout Petit" program) and the oldest one is thriving in the kindergarten. Neither of them have any French language spoken at home, but they've both picked it up in this immersion environment with native speakers. The curriculum is a wonderful balance of play-based -- our kids look forward to the weekly "forest day" during nice weather -- and solid academics to prepare them for school. We were shocked when our kindergartner came home writing her name in cursive! I also need to mention how wonderful the teachers are. In addition to being certified in the French curriculum, they are warm, loving, and caring to our kids.
Both my kids go to The French Académie for the second year since we moved to MN and we couldn’t be happier! I searched and toured all French immersion programs in the twin cities only to proudly choose this school because it’s very well structured, truly cares about the children and implements a real french language and culture curriculum in their program. Véronique’s passion and love for all the kids show every day and I always feel my children will be well taken care of by the whole team like their own. I love all the teachers not only because they are natives who speak the language but also because they are professionally trained educators in their own country and that makes a huge difference in the kind of early childhood education the kids are getting in PreK and Kindergarten. My 2 kids are always happy to go to their school and they surprise me everyday with many creative projects and activities! By far a great experience on all aspects!
Both of my sons attend the French Académie and my future children will also attend. The teachers are native French speakers, professionally trained in France, Egypt, Lebanon or elsewhere in the French-speaking world. Alert: there is an ACTUAL CURRICULUM! Unlike other "immersion programs" that are nothing but glorified, crowded daycares. My children cook, sign, read in French and play games that require logic like chess and blokes duo. The benefits of bilingual children abound, from advanced cognitive function to better academic achievement throughout school. To speak two languages is to live two lives! I have toured all bilingual programs on the entire West Side, this is the best and I am so thankful my children attend.
