Our son attended the French American Academy of Jersey City from Kindergarten through 2nd Grade before we moved out of state, and we had a wonderful experience. We originally moved from Brooklyn Heights to Jersey City just for FAA — the tuition was much more reasonable than other French schools (many in Brooklyn were $45K+ or hard to reach for working parents), and we appreciated the school’s balanced, down-to-earth approach to education. Class sizes are small (about 13 students), the teachers are excellent, and the kids cover a lot of material — you really notice it when you see all the work they bring home! The end-of-year performances are charming, and the after-school and aftercare programs are both fun and affordable, which is a big plus for working families. What we loved most was the warm community of staff and parents. It’s a nurturing, engaging environment where kids truly thrive. Highly recommend FAA!
Our daughter started at FAA in Pre-K at the Hoboken campus and is now in kindergarten at the Jersey City campus—and we’ve had a good overall. One of the biggest reasons we’re happy with FAA is that they actually deliver on the bilingual promise. Even in just kindergarten, she now reads fluently in French, understands it really well, and while speaking is a work in progress, her reading and writing in both English and French are strong. That didn’t just happen—it’s because the teachers really put in the effort to help her grow. Communication from the school could always be better, but the teachers themselves are exceptional. They’re caring, involved in the kids' lives, and really know how to reach them. The campus community also feels vibrant and welcoming.
We moved from Nice, France to Jersey City with our 6 years old daughter who spoke only French. The FAA team has been so helpful, I can't explain how grateful I am for evertyhing they have already done for our family. My daughter loves the school! After the first day she couldn't stop speaking about her teacher and school. She already has so many friends. The amazing thing is, she can speak her language and meanwhile learn English. She already started speaking a bit in English and it's been only 4 days since she started school. We have been very happy with the experience at the school for both our sons. The curriculum, teachers and staff are very engaged on the children's social and academic growth. They work with each child and parents to ensure the children have the best learning experience. Thanks to the high quality of education, my older son is now thriving in high school and now entering 10th grade. My younger son is still at the school, entering 4th grade and has made great strides academically and being focused on his work.
We couldn't be happier with our experience at the FAA. It's not only a great bilingual school but also an excellent community that fosters relationships between students, parents and teachers. Everyone in the staff goes above and beyond to offer the best educational experience for the kids. In addition, the recent creation of the High School means the students can develop the full bilingual curriculum from age 3 to 18.
