What Parents Say
First Steps Daycare receives overwhelmingly positive feedback, with parents praising the caring and responsive staff, secure facility, and strong communication through their app. However, one serious incident was reported where a 3-year-old was locked outside in freezing weather when a door was left open, with staff initially unaware of the child's absence.
In light of a recent local tragedy involving a DIFFERENT area day care, I just want to share our experience with First Steps. Our son attended First Steps for about a year and the ONLY reason we moved him is because he qualified for early childhood special education through our local school district. The very minute that he got his autism diagnosis, the director and the staff moved swiftly and effectively to accommodate his needs. They even gave him his own worker who was extremely wonderful to him... I know it was no easy feat because our boy vented his frustrations by headbanging on anything and anyone. But there was NEVER a moment where I felt that he wasn't in good hands. If you are looking for safe, compassionate, and efficient child care, I highly recommend First Steps.
Great daycare. Wonderful caring staff. My son is very well attended to. They have an app we use and they send us every interaction with him. They send photos of the activities with him participating. Very nice playground he loves. Very secure facility, password just to get in the door and app to sign him in and out with. He loves it there and is very happy.
My child has been attending this daycare since she was 13 weeks old and she is now 3 and just got moved to the pre k room this week. We have never had any issues prior but this week there was a really big incident and I feel like I need to make others aware. My child was able to go outside on her own today out of an opened back door that was left open to let the room cool down because they were having heating issues and it was below freezing outside with snow on the ground and the door was closed and she was locked out. The teachers didnt even know she was missing and thankfully another parent seen her as she was pulling away because she was outside in the cold without any coat, hat, gloves etc crying to get back in . I do want others to know that this has happened and unfortunately it was to my child and family that had to be the example of what silly careless mistakes can cause. Going forward I hope they put better best practices into place so that this does not EVER happen again as the repercussions of one small mistake could have been detrimental to my childs life . She will not be returning and I hate that for her because these children and teachers were like an extended family. I am not here to bash anyone because mistakes can very easily happen like this to anyone just to make sure that it is known that it has happened because like me (who wasn't contacted until over an hour after this has happened) you as parents also have the right to know weither your child currently goes here or you are seeking child care .
Such an amazing, kind, and loving daycare!! The staff are so caring, it warms my heart! Definitely recommend it!!
I can't say enough about this place! In my opinion, it's one of the best around!
