What Parents Say
First Step Learning Center receives highly polarized reviews. Most parents praise the caring staff, faith-based curriculum, and loving environment, but recent negative reviews cite serious concerns including alleged physical discipline of children, discriminatory treatment of a child with developmental needs, and a decline in staff quality and professionalism after 2023.
My son has been at First step almost a year now, and he loves it there. When he first got there, he struggled a lot at drop off but Mrs. Jodie and all the amazing women that work there were patient with him and still is. The daycare is filled with love, laughter and peace. It's also a faith-based daycare which I truly love! If you're looking for a place where your child will be treated with love and patience and more good things, First Step Learning Center is where your child should be!
The staff and directors here are truly a blessing. They care for the kids like their own and pour so much love and patience into everything they do. My child has grown and learned so much, and it fills my heart with joy knowing they are in such good hands. I’m beyond grateful for this daycare!
First Step Learning Center has been such a blessing for my family. My kids love going each day to play with their friends, and I love that they get to pray, do Bible cards, and learn about Jesus while they’re there. It gives me so much peace knowing they are cared for and growing in their faith
We love this daycare! The teachers are so caring, and my child always comes home happy. I especially love how they include Bible lessons—it makes it feel even more like family.
I will definitely commend my son's teachers. My problem is with Administration and the Intangible Owner. Today the Director of the center decided to kick my 22 month old out of the daycare because she claims he needs 'one on one ' help. The Director made the suggestion for ECI( Early Childhood Intervention) and then obviously tapped out on the path way of his development. My son was playing with a toy and another child took it, he had a tantrum. He would fight and cry every day when I took him in. It was negative energy. They was so ready to dismiss my son, who has been predetermined to be nonverbal, but did not want to give back my money for care I paid for. Kayla was way better of a Director. Samantha is extremely professional and was very pleasant to work with. Ms. Jody does not know how to talk to people. She has berated me about my son's funding of his care in front of others. She seems disgruntled. She refused several times to give me the owners contact information. She believes she is the say all be all. Ms. Jody was not accommodating to my son's needs. I believe she discriminated against my son and his mental health needs. I believe she is the reason the facility has a high turnover rate of employees.
