What Parents Say
First Place Learning Academy receives highly polarized reviews. Most parents praise the staff's attentiveness, patience, and developmental support for their children. However, recent reviews cite serious safety concerns including inadequate supervision, child-on-child incidents, and mishandling of incident reporting to CPS.
If I could, I would give negative stars! My son (5) was hurt by another child while at the daycare on a Friday. It took all weekend to reach the owner after which time she apologized and reassured me it would be handled properly. She self reported to CPS but what I was unaware of was she would lie and tell them I did it at home! As a result, my son was removed from my home and I was forced to fight CPS and prove I had nothing to do with his injury! The case against me was dismissed, however I have no idea what happened with the daycare investigation. I know everything that was told to CPS. was a lie just so they would not have to answer for what happened to my son. Do not send your child to this daycare! At first things were good but he slowly came home with small bruises, bumps, or other marks caused from other children, clearly happening from lack of supervision. The last injury was serious enough to require emergency medical treatment. My mistake was not calling police the moment I saw it on him. Please do not use this daycare, for your own children's safety.
On my sons first day after he was there for maybe three hours when we were called to come get him. My son is three and although he is high energy I don’t feel he was given a chance to comply with the directions. I was told my child could not come back because he would not sit and would not nap and I think he kicked a staff member. However this was his first day and he is three these teachers definitely need to improve on their skills when working with children. I also was never introduced to any teachers and my son didn’t know anyone there no wonder he acted up on the first day.
Well my baby went here for the last few years until the shelter in place order was given. He started at 8 weeks and made it until he was almost 3 years old. In my opinion Mrs Mable and Mrs Arlene are the best super attentive, caring, and have a heart for the kids. I will say my baby had a few incidents while here but it is worth a try. The only negative thing I can say is they have a high turnover rate for teachers. Unfortunately after the daycare opened back up I wasn't notified and my baby had to go somewhere else.
My son has been here since he was 1 years old. (He's now 2.5) I am grateful to have him here. He learned how to walk, learned how to hold his own utensils, has improved with his speech, and is in the process of potty training. The teachers have shown patience with him and myself as I learned to navigate on being a single mother working full time. I appreciate all they do as my son would have probably fallen behind if I was just working from home.
We have been going here for a good couple of years now. The staff are outstanding and are really on top of the kids. They are completely transparent and when any incident happens you are notified right away. They are super understanding of any situation and are completely willing to work with parents when there are any issues that arise over finances, childhood behavior, and help back up what the parent is working on at home with their children at the daycare. My son loves it there and currently during Covid has been begging to go back to daycare. He gets so excited to see his teacher and even remembers her name! I have no doubt when they reopen they'll be there with open arms and ready to tackle any new regulations they must follow for Covid19 prevention.
