What Parents Say

This daycare is grotesque, unprofessional, and deeply misaligned from their “godly” facade. My son, who is diagnosed with level one autism, has recently started kindergarten and we have been on the market for a good afterschool program for him. My son has an ABA and has had one for more than a year, because although he is very smart and kind he can struggle with listening and focusing. Last week we toured the facility with a very kind girl who we discussed all of my son’s needs with. She assured us they could accommodate my son’s ABA so long as we submitted all the necessary paperwork, and that he could start a week later, which sounded perfect. We followed through and submitted all necessary forms and paperwork, including that associated with my son’s diagnosis and again the kind girl we originally met with confirmed my son could start Monday. She even asked if there were any additional things the center could do to help accommodate my son and I confirmed that so long as his ABA could be present he would be more than fine. In light of facility confirming my sons start date for the following Monday we proceeded with updating my sons therapist and school regarding the change and began to prepare him for the shift to this center. On the Friday before he was scheduled to begin at this school at 4:30pm the “director” called me and began to make assumptions about my sons diagnosis such as his diagnosis making him unable to ride the bus from the school to the center. I communicated he had ridden the bus from school to a daycare center before and he had no issues. She declared they could not provide accommodations for him on the bus for which I responded he did not need any. She then proceeded to say she reviewed his diagnosis paperwork and stated that my sons had “violent tendencies” and they were concerned he would harm other students. I stated my sons was not violent and his diagnosis paperwork did not call him violent. She then said that my son’s ABA could not start on Monday because they had to conduct screenings. I told her I understood that and that was fine, and my sons would be fine a few days without his ABA since she is really just there to help maintain behaviors. She said in the “20 years she worked there they had never had an ABA therapist in the facility” which seems like it could not possibly be correct as every facility we have ever spoken to had extensive experience with ABA therapists and we have found it is quiet common. I said I understood if they needed to do additional screening and confirmed she was properly licensed and a background check had been run on her for this express purpose. Again, this woman went back around to my sons potentially “being violent” with which I again told her he was not a violent child. She said she was sorry but the woman we had met with had no authority to confirm my sons ABA could be in the center or provide us with a start date. I said “so are you telling me that even if my son does not need his ABA on Monday, he can not start despite us already being told he could and doing everything necessary for him to start Monday, including informing his school.” She confirmed that was correct. When I asked why she became even more rude and said “I already told you why, his diagnosis causes concern.” I scoffed, because that was unbelievable. I have never had a facility turn my son away, and I had never heard of a facility being so blatantly bias against a child with a diagnosis, especially one this woman had never even laid eyes on. I told her they were the worst kind of people and to trash our application, and that this was ridiculous. She tried to talk further but I just hung up, because I was appalled. Parents of children with any diagnosis…DO NOT ENROLL YOUR CHILDREN HERE. The sweet girl we met originally had so much understanding but based on my conversation with the director this school has no respect for ADA guidelines or requirements nor do they have any interest in taking children who do not fit their narrative. If I could give these people a 0 stars I would.
Church is nice. In a rebuilding stage. I love the programs offered.
I was really excited and thankful when I initially came across Emmanuel Learning Center. The staff were so inviting and appeared friendly. However, the first day my son attended I was informed that he had a behavior issue. I was then instructed that they would email me over their behavior policy. My son is 2 btw. The second week he had another behavior issue and they dismissed him from the academy saying that he could not return. I am completely appalled that this is how they handle 2 year olds. My son never had this issue with his previous daycare and he was very hurt that he had to leave. The people running this center should be ashamed.
I love my church, The pastor has always been warm and caring and interested in your well being. My pastor's wife is such a beautiful person inside and out. She treats you like family. I have been going here for over ten years. Even when I got sick and could not go, when I was able to return I was always welcomed with open and loving arms. The associate pastor is very good and always smiling along with his wife who is a wonderful and caring person. This church cares. They were there for me when my father died and showed so much compassion . Please visit..
When I initially applied for childcare services at Emmanuel Kid’s Academy, I was led to believe that this institution was one created in honor of God and such biblical principles would be instilled in each classroom and within each teacher who were responsible for creating a safe and nurturing environment for not only my children, but all children. I was wrong! I enrolled both of my little ones in February 2022 and that process was a complete disaster, but I still remained consistent with the process. They started a month later after the toddler classrooms were shut down! The first week they started, my daughter who is only 2 years old, received NEGATIVE behavior reports every day. OMG!! She’s only 2! Long story short, I repeatedly received phone calls that she was displaying all these inappropriate actions, bumping her head on tables, all kinds of stuff every week. Instead of professionally trying to meet with me to devise a plan because it’s obvious that the child is lacking social development, but intellectually high-level. I suggested providing enrichment activities for her. She knows all the basics…… why make her suffer through ABC’s and 123’s when she can tell you it all. What was obvious is that the teachers were lacking diversity, classroom management skills, and empathy for their students. A month later, they dismissed her from services stating that she did not “fit” in their academy. I thought God LOVED all his children, which the principles of this academy is based on. If your child has any deficits or disabilities, so not send them to this academy. Prior to my daughters dismissal, I inquired about possibly sending my autistic son for summer camp, the Director, who becomes rude when you don’t agree with her, stated that she would get back to me. Never did, which lets me know that they did not want to deal with children with disabilities. I really wish I had kept my daughter in Springfield Christian Academy. This is a huge lesson for me as a parent. Pray for understanding!
