The staff sent my son home last school year due to diarrhea and said he needed a doctor's note, we went and got a note and it was in the note that he was getting too much processed foods and sugars (at home) but the doctor did not sign the note. We gave the note to the school and that was it he was able to go back. However without informing us and without a doctor's signature on the note they put him on a food watch list (we obviously did not ask for it). I try to take him to his first day of school today and was informed he could not go to school because that doctor's note wasn't signed and he needed a new one and was informed he was on the food watch list. I asked why because we were never told he was and never asked for him to be and they said due to the unsigned doctor's note yet in order to continue or take him off they needed a signed one because its not valid unless signed. Not only did they disclose HIPPA information to me (step parent and they do not have papers for dad to sign stating I can be involved in paperwork, signing, release of that information because dad tried to sign a paper for that just like we have with doctor's, our other children's school, etc) they also broke their own "policy" by allowing him to be put on a list without a doctor's signature to begin with. One, they need something to be able to allow parents to have step parents sign for things because like in our case dad works 10 hour shifts and can not get off easily to sign paperwork and other schools and doctor's have paperwork that allows for information to be released and signed by a designated party. Two, they need to learn to follow policy all the time and not pick when the policy starts to apply because according to them based on the previous doctor's note not being signed my son should have never been put on a list of any kind that would require a new doctor's note to continue being on the list or be released.
They told me my daughter was in a classroom 16 where I requested her to be in. Got in and then on the last day of school the director switched her classrooms. When I expressed to her why I wanted her in 14 or 16 She told me to talk to admissions because of "funding" so I did. I went through all these hoops to change her back to 16 "due to funding" & she didn't even put her back. I tried being respectful by telling her in advance so when school started there was no issues. But all she did was waste my time for a whole week before I go to surgery to email and call people from legacy because "legacy" changed it when in fact it was her the whole time. Sadden me.
