Discovery Time Learning Center

Last year, my husband and I decided to explore options to transition to a new preschool in Alexandria. We received a referral from a close friend and decided to schedule a tour at Discovery Time Learning Center on Leslie Avenue in Del Ray. From the moment of our first visit, we experienced compassion, excellence, and joy! We were concerned about transitioning our son for his final year of preschool before Kindergarten, but the teachers at Discovery Time Learning Center ensured we had a smooth transition. They immediately formed connections with my son finding an amazing balance of love and caring with balance and structure. We also loved the many events held throughout the year that helped us build community with fellow families and get to know the teachers. The preschool celebration is one we’ll never forget! My son thrived and loves all the new friends and teachers he met. I am frequently called “Ms. Kiyah” (his lead teacher) or “Ms. Mama” (when he tries to correct himself). I know that when he was there, he is loved and surrounded by such great role models. Our time there recently ended as my son started Kindergarten this fall. We’re appreciative for the caring hands and preparation for Kindergarten and especially the fun events and monthly parent’s night out!

We absolutely love Discovery Time. The teachers are truly amazing,so caring, attentive, and dedicated to the children. My wife and I really appreciate the variety of activities they plan each day, which keep the children engaged, learning, and excited to come to school. We also enjoy receiving the daily photos and detailed overviews on Brightwheel. It means so much to see what our child is doing throughout the day and how much they are growing. Discovery Time truly feels like a second home, and we are grateful for the love and effort the entire team puts into everything they do.

Our daughter attended the pre-K class at Discovery Time Learning Center, and we could not be happier with the experience. The teachers created such a nurturing, creative, and joyful environment where she truly thrived. Every day she came home excited to share what she had learned and still talks about her favorite teachers with so much affection! We highly recommend Discovery Time Learning Center to any family looking for a place where their child will feel supported and inspired to learn.

Discovery Time Learning Center is great and the teachers are truly amazing! Our three kids (two graduates and one present) have been at DTLC for nearly nine consecutive years. My wife and I could not be happier with the school, the teachers and the management. But the teachers are what make the school special. Each teacher is so kind and caring toward our little ones. Our kids were/are excited to go to school every day. They not only get a great education, but their days are filled with fun, a wide variety of experiences and activities, lots of outside time, positivity and love. Many of the teachers -- Ms. Biancka, Ms. Edith, Ms. Kevonia, Ms. Shirleeta, Ms. Adrianne, Ms. Myesha, Ms. Kaiyah – are truly special caretakers. They have helped raise our three children, all of them since they were infants. Our two oldest, ages 7 and 9, still visit to say hi to their past teachers. The managers are also great. They are very responsive and are great with the kids. My wife and I can’t say enough good things about this school, the management and – especially – the amazing teachers!

We absolutely love Discovery Time Learning Center! My son has been attending since 18 months (now 3 years old) and has grown TREMENDOUSLY! The staff is AMAZING. The curriculum and activities they complete with the kids are engaging and developmentally appropriate. Ms. Adriane, Ms. Edith, and Ms. Kevonia have been so supportive of my child's development. Even as he moves up to the next class, he always has the support of his former teachers. THANK YOU!
