We have been members of the the Y for a couple years now and absolutely love it. From the gym to the child watch to the workout classes. Both of my kids have been in swim lessons there for a while and are just thriving. Teri in particular has been our swim instructor and she is just amazing. My kids adore her and both have immensely improved in swimming thanks to her. The facility is very well ran, very clean and overall just a very welcoming great place. We have done youth team sports there for a few seasons as well and the Athletic Director, Ian is a true pleasure. Very helpful and always there to answer questions. Keep being amazing Boynton Beach YMCA!
I joined this YMCA for the yoga classes which are scheduled almost daily. They are a great disappointment. I have no problem using accessories such as exercise ball, fitness ring and resistance band once in a while, but why use dumb bells in a yoga class ? I might as well hit the gym which is located in the next room. I also attempted the yoga classes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday; they were so boring that I left before the sessions ended. I was with the LA Fitness for many years before moving to Boynton Beach. The LA Fitness centers near my previous home seem to have "better" yoga instructors.
This is probably the worst Y I've ever been to. I'm a visiting member from Des Moines. It's nice that they have the e-gym here even though I don't participate. I noticed a lot of people in the program. There seemed to be quite a few trainers around but just one person at the front desk while they were having tech issues. The weight machines are pretty outdated albeit decently maintained. There was a huge variety of equipment all around though I only saw one set of kettlebells. They use paper towels to clean the machines here which is extremely wasteful. There's a basketball court and some outdoor fields (which other Y's don't always have). I think I saw a cycling studio and a freestyle workout room. No racquetball courts here. I'll reiterate what someone else mentioned about the locker rooms/bathrooms. They are DISGUSTING. Stains everywhere, mold, mildew, chipped sinks and counters. I needed to pee but I high-tailed it out of there and waited till I got to the store. A Y membership is not cheap, and the facility was full towards the end of our visit. I wonder what's happening to all of the money they're getting. A clean bathroom should be standard. It's 2024. You can tell they really don't care by the generic responses they give to all of the negative reviews.
The absolute worst place to bring your children for swim lessons, especially if they are beginners. It is a literal factory. Clearly what matters is quantity in this case, definitely not quality. Everything is extremely rushed. I did not get to meet or converse with the instructor- at least to let him know that my daughter is a beginner. I was in the water with my youngest daughter, when I hear that my 3 year old is screaming and crying. She fell into the pool while the instructor was on the opposite side with another student. The lifeguard was the one to take her out. They had 6 kids sitting on the edge of the pool. How is this safe? They know nothing about my daughter and she was expected to sit on the edge and not move, and boom, she fell in. I was shocked and pissed. I don't care if the classes are free, the most expensive. But I will never step foot into a YMCA again. It's a FACTORY. Waste of time and thanks for traumatizing my daughter.
I have to give a shout out to Coach Eric at the Boynton YMCA. My daughter loves his class and he has built up her confidence and unlocked a love for the sport! He’s patient, and positive and my daughter loves that he provides feedback so she can learn and develop her skills. Thank you!
