It's strange that I posted a review recently but it is not appearing here! Do you people pick and choose reviews? It wouldn't surprise me as you swept my complaints under the rug and nobody EVER reached out to me. You are a for-profit company lining your pockets with money you really don't deserve. I warn anyone about your facility and what a joke you are! I believe in Karma, and for the insufficient people that own this business and are employed by you, you should start doing better! My beloved family member would have NEVER lived in conditions this poor! You cheated them! You took their money without caring! Your poor care and unsanitary conditions ultimately led to their demise! SHAME ON YOU DELMAR GARDENS!!! By the way... I read another post where someone claimed you had ombudsman in your pocket and I totally believe it! I myself hotlined these conditions to Senior Services and according to their investigation there were no findings! That's a joke!! You can tell by the pictures that these were inhumane conditions! Pictures don't lie!

This place is an absolute joke. I wish I could give a zero or NEGATIVE star rating. A few years ago, my great aunt was in this facility for long term care. They ended up over medicating her which caused her death (we have documentation from the hospital dr and coroner to back this up). More recently we have had nothing but problems during the last 2.5 weeks of my grandmother's stay. We decided to sign my grandmother out of this facility this past week due to negligence and the care she was receiving. Multiple times of visiting her she was laying in a urine soaked bed. One morning during a visit, my aunt walked in to find her sitting in her wheelchair with NO pants or undergarments on, just bare bottom on the wheelchair which I'm sure was not sanitized. Any time the call button was pressed it would take a minimum of 30-45 minutes for someone to arrive. I understand things get busy, but the very least they could have done was pop their head in to say they see the light and they will be with us ASAP. Most of the time we wpuld have my grandmother out of bed, to the bathroom and back in bed before anyone ever came. She required a special antibiotic and was supposed to recieve it 3x per day; at dinner time I asked if she would be receiving her antibiotic prior to dinner and I was told "It shows in her chart it was given to her at 4:30pm." I informed them that I got to her room at 4:00 and had been sitting there with her and she most definitely did NOT receive her medication. Their response "well, there's nothing I can do until 8:30pm because it shows she already had it." This was in addition to other issues we had with her receiving medications. Then we were told the facility does not have a diabetic menu and couldn't accommodate my grandmother's diet restrictions. Her blood sugar was 370 and they brought her chicken fettuccine Alfredo and two breadsticks the size of the plate for dinner!! There was another night that we were waiting on dinner and after asking several times, the nurse informed us that they ran out of dinner!!! Meaning, my grandma did not eat! Every single time you would ask for assistance from a nurse, or even just ask a simple question, they were so incredibly rude and seemed extremely bothered and inconvenienced. They drew blood from my grandmother every day but always said everything was fine. The day we brought her home, we took her straight to urgent care to find out she had a very severe UTI with possible sepsis AND pneumonia. What kind of place misses that???? I will say, we had a couple of very sweet CNA's assisting and the PT lady was so sweet, but overall this was by far the worst experience ever and I believe my family and I saved my grandmother's life by signing her out of this facility. Please please PLEASE do your research and avoid this facility at all cost!

Please do not send your loved one here. My grandmother’s medications were mishandled multiple times. At one point on Wednesday, Feb. 11th, the nurse apologized and admitted she had forgotten her glasses and did not see the fine-print instructions on the medication. On another occasion (Feb. 14th), nurses documented that my grandmother had received her medication, but after waiting and speaking with a different nurse, we were told it had not been ordered or administered when it should have been. There were also issues with basic care and communication. On Sunday, Feb. 15th, they ran out of food for supper and did not inform anyone until we finally advocated for my grandmother and her roommate. The solution was pudding cups for dinner. If we had not been there, would they have eaten at all? The response time from staff was consistently unacceptable. Because of the delays, our family felt we had to ensure someone was with my grandmother at all times to make sure she received proper care. We were the ones wiping her down, applying the gait belt, transferring her to a wheelchair, tending to her wounds, and assisting her with a walker to the bathroom. When nurses took too long to respond, we were also the ones cleaning her up in the bathroom and putting her back into bed. Our experience left us DEEPLY concerned about the level of care provided. The director of Delmar will be hearing from us.

It’s a long review but read:: if you want to know more :: Response to owners thoughtless response included. If I could give even fewer stars I would!!! Best description I can give is trickery, the main entrance to the health center is welcoming and bright , but my mom’s room if you can call it that was aged, dirty and very cramped. There was a red stain on the floor that looked like a bio hazard and black mold like stain around the baseboards. The heater in the room was a rusted metal box with sharper corners, can you say skin tear?? The staff some were ok, but they are agency and don’t directly work for the company so accountability is low!! The first nurse we encountered came to the room because of a call light walked in and turned it off without asking how she could help. They would leave her in her wheelchair for hours while my mom just wanted to lay down this is considered restraining , which is undignified and unpleasant. Move on a month or so my mother was passing away in a cramped accommodations with a roommate Blasting her TV. Not peaceful at all. Staff was playing music on phone in hallway outside her room volume extremely loud!! With complaints they moved her. 1:00 am walking to go be with my mom a nurse was aggressively screaming at a man in a wheelchair telling him is wasn’t time for bed AT 1:00 AM!!! This helpless man wanted bed!!! I also asked for medication to help my mom with mucus build up due to the the horrible rattling she had and that did not happen the kind nurse swabbed her month then tried to show us what she was swabbing out of my moms mouth talk about horrified!! See photos of my moms first room below!! Response to owners response: saying you will speak to the power of attorney!!! Are you kidding me…. Anyone can advocate for any person who they think maybe in harms way neglected abused or otherwise.!!! Leaving someone in their wheel chair to wait for therapy is not okay!! Therapy could get her out of bed when time to work. I like how you brushed under the rug That the nurses not only were loud and disrespectful, but didn’t handle the call light in a dignified manner. Also. It didn’t seem to bother you that a nurse was aggressively yelling at a man in a wheelchair at 1 AM telling him he couldn’t go to bed. Speaking of the condition of my mom’s first accommodations let’s just say they should’ve been prepped and ready before Mom even moved in, Can you say you’d want your mom in a room that was similar.? Also a pair of 500 .00 glasses were never found . You lost most of her clothes and my sister had to order blankets with her name all over them due to them being lost constantly, finding my mom’s quilt on some one else’s bed. You’re right you gave mom a private room after you had two complaints of the roommate being annoying and loud and noisy not to mention Your nurse playing music out in the hallway blasting on her iPhone I like how you didn’t mention any of those things or think maybe you should respond. Also, maybe you should say thank you that I didn’t call state on you. Probably not too worried about it as it seems you have the ombudsman in your pocket. That’s how it appears anyway. It seems Delmar Garden south counts on people, not knowing what they can do for their loved one not knowing they could advocate, not knowing that a nurse should be accountable. Of course I do fear. They have the market cornered. You are correct (owner) I have emotion !! But its well deserved that it be laid in your lap. My mom deserved better, that’s the emotion!! And if you’re wondering I’m a last word kind of girl so let’s play!!!!

I really like assisted living at Delmar gardens. I know my mother is well taken care of. She is assisted with bathing. Her meals are very nice with a decent variety. They have so many activities to keep everyone busy. The staff is stellar. They all seem to love their jobs and are so kind to everyone. They do her laundry and it is done individually and I didn’t have to mark her clothing. If there is a call to maintenance, they come within minutes to check things out.
