What Parents Say
Dean Rusk YMCA Head Start Academy receives mostly positive reviews, with parents praising the teachers, learning outcomes, and free program. However, a few parents reported negative experiences with staff professionalism and director demeanor.
By far the worst Director I’ve experienced from an outsider view . She is very unprofessional and rude. Did not greet me as I entered the building instead Had a stank look on her face until I spoke to her first. She Also like to judge and lie on people. Teachers seemed great. I like to call this place bonnet world yet they draw the line at head band. Lol
Not satisfied at all. You pay for what you get in this case. Some of the staff was rude and not friendly at all. I only allowed my 2 year old daughter to stay there for maybe 3 months. I feel like she was not thriving at this school. The staff was not very supportive in her learning and development. Overall I would not recommend this school at this point. Maybe if she was older or if the staff had a little more compassion and training.
I absolutely love Dean Rusk Academy! All the staff that I have encountered are welcoming, loving, helpful and professional!! I love love love my daughters teachers! Ms. Tameka and Mr. Tye are awesome teachers! I see 1st hand that my daughter is learning at this school. Ms. Macon and Ms. Western are sooo nice and helpful. The 2 of them along with her teachers, really worked to help my daughter make a smooth transition from daycare to headstart and I am forever greatful for that 💛💛They are always working to have parent workshops and other activites to keep parents abreast and involved in all aspects of their child(ren) learning. Even the afterschool care staff are phenomenal! Always professional, caring and they treat u like family! All they ask is that u pick your child up by the designated end time of after-care which is 5:30. It would make sense to pick up your child by this time being that it's free + your kid(s) have already been in school alllll dayyy long. I have and will continue to support and recommend this academy!!
They don't have good teachers and staff they call everyday to come pick my son up the teachers does not have strong structure in class my son haven't learn anything they. Have more parties then class room time I work in school system the director does not have a good staff and they label n mis treated my son daily where I had pull him out that place please don't send your child to this YMCA
I sent 3 of my kids here, they are all excellent academic achievers. It is totally free. They have great resources for parent and student alike.
