Our family absolutely loves Daystar. Both of my kids have “grown up” there. The teacher turnover is low. They have good hours for working parents (7am-6pm). Meals are included. My older daughter was kindergarten-ready when she graduated preschool and moved to elementary school. We still rely on Daystar for school-age drop-ins for my older child when SACC is closed. Daystar doesn’t have classroom cameras (but do have external security cameras), don’t send photos throughout the day, and the daily reports are lacking sometimes. Personally, I find classroom cameras to be a false sense of security, and I don’t want the staff distracted by their phones taking photos, so that never bothered me. What matters to me is that teachers are loving and kind, the front staff are willing to talk through anything going on, and my kids are happy. To this day, I have never seen a teacher on their cellphone in front of my kids, which feels rare and special. The attention is on the kids. My husband and I love that Daystar is set back from the road quite a lot. It feels safer. I like to say Daystar has the warmth of a home-based daycare with the reliability and predictability of a center. It has been awesome to have a childcare center that is also a preschool, too.
I had high hopes for Daystar Daycare after reading a few positive reviews, but unfortunately, our experience was far from what we expected. Communication with the staff was inconsistent; sometimes my messages would go unanswered for days, and updates about my child’s day were vague at best. Not only that the stuff were not friendly specifically Ms. Valeria and Ms. Slivia would let you wait for minutes knocking on the door every morning at drop off or pick up while they are sitting in the office looking at you from the inside. Which was very rude The facility itself looked clean during the initial tour, but after a few weeks, I noticed cleanliness was not consistently maintained, especially in the bathroom areas. Several times, I picked up my child only to find them with a soiled that hadn’t been changed in what seemed like hours. What concerned me most was the lack of structure and engagement. The staff often looked overwhelmed and inattentive, and not passionate at all for teaching and there seemed to be little actual learning or meaningful play happening throughout the day. My child, who usually loves social settings, started resisting drop-offs and seemed anxious after attending. Overall, Daystar daycare did not provide the safe, nurturing environment we were promised. We made the decision to leave after a few months, and I wish we had done it sooner.
Great Daycare I used to go as a kid!
