What Parents Say
Country Hill Montessori receives predominantly positive reviews praising the teaching staff, nurturing environment, and child development. However, two negative reviews cite serious concerns including poor communication about child progress, lack of structured learning, and alleged unprofessional behavior and discrimination from staff.
The Director still uses aggressive body language when interacting with me, and it’s clear she didn’t like that I put it in my review but she has not said anything about it directly to me. I do my best not to aggravate her further. She literally screams at me. For example, she practically screamed at me today when I greeted her. She noticed me see her behavior and tried to disguise it. My son’s teacher was in the adjacent room watching me and moments later approached me while the students were gathered outside. She did not greet me, just commented on my appearance and used unsavory tones. It is clear that these people don’t like POC of the black community. My son’s teacher cannot even stand to look at my face or be kind most times she sees me. I am looking forward to June, went the school year ends. Not the best place for a POC that is aware and educated on DEI and related topics. I even had a meeting to discuss my and my son’s experiences and those were dismissed and no real changes have been made, just more unpleasant experiences across time. 2 stars for education and safety, -3 for experience
My son absolutely loves it here! He goes three days a week and loves all of the teachers! They love these children like they are their own. My son has developed a stronger ability to play by himself and focus on a task for longer periods of time. He also has made friends very quickly and the other children were so sweet and welcoming to him.
I do not know where to start. I looked at country Hill for my children because a good friend recommended them. I was very impressed with their security and attention to detail right from the get go. The team that Elizabeth has put together is a dream team that provides the perfect environment for safety, learning, fun and nurturing. I have yet to be disappointed with their ability to handle a tough or challenging situation; and given all the challenges 2020 has thrown our way that is saying something. My kids come home full of knowledge and excited to go to school the next day. I drive all the way from Folsom to bring my kids here because I do believe it's the best place for them.
I do not see what the excitement behind this school is. Information regarding our child is missed, being notified for certain things is almost non-existent, and communication is overall poor. There seems to be no evaluation of our childs cognitive development. Is he interacting with the kids and teachers, well? Is he following directions and seem to be learning? So far, because communication is poor, it appears that the skills he entered the school with have decreased to a degree. Our child has fallen behind kids his age since attending here. We had to hire a tutor for him to help us regain skills he learned at his private school. I am not sure if it is an under staffing problem, educational/skill problem, or lack of caring or trying. We took our son out of private school to allow him to have a little less structure but this school appears to have no formula. Not sure what qualifies 'best preschool awards', but this is certainly not it. I am pleased to see that other parents and their children are enjoying their time at this establishment. Unfortunate, our experience has not been the same.
Every teacher that I had contact with have been very kind and helpful. Miss Ali is my sons teacher and she is the best. He is now graduating to Miss Ashley’s class and I know he will do great because she’s pretty great too!
