What Parents Say
Color Wheel Learning Center receives mixed reviews. Multiple parents praise the staff, cleanliness, and child development, while others report serious concerns about infant care practices, staff professionalism, facility cleanliness, and classroom management following a recent administrative change.
If you have an infant do not send your baby here. I cannot speak for the toddlers or older children. I went to pick my son up earlier than usual yesterday and as I'm halfway down the hall I can hear him crying so I'm continuing to walk to the room and when I walk in I see the teacher casually having a conversation with the other coworkers as if the other children don't exist. Then she makes sure she finishes her conversation and after getting aggravated with the crying she finally goes to tend to my child who was put in a swing and had a bottle propped up unattended (with her back turned and everything) and raised her voice at him for crying. all he needed was to be burped but instead he was left to cry in the swing until i picked him up instead of attempting to comfort him. and there's no reason for not holding him to eat when there were like 3 babies left that were sleeping. which explains why he's been spitting up uncontrollably since he's been there but every time i have him all day he barely spits up at all. he been coming home with other babies' things, after 3 times of telling them he needs to come home with everything in his bag this is the second time I picked him up with no diapers left in his bag when I put more than enough and he only got his diaper changed 4 times. These babies are left in a swing all day, no stimulation nothing. And i have a 3 month old, not a fresh out the womb newborn that just eats and sleeps. He stays up for a little bit to play until he's tired. Which just makes me wonder what happens when I'm not there besides what I already saw with my own eyes. There's no cameras in the building at all only outside. I've researched this place after the fact and were in violation for only so many people having a first aid and CPR certification when it should be every employee on the premise. The teacher was obviously not trained properly to care for these babies. She's only experienced enough to keep them alive while you have to work and that's if an emergency doesnt happen that she's not even properly certified for.
Great place to send your kids, and I couldn't recommend it more...we are in the process of sending our second child through there. I have seen the other reviews listed, and none of them properly describe the Color Wheel Learning Center on Sherwood Forest Blvd. The teachers are great, the administrators are great, we DO NOT give out gift cards, and IF we do get a gift it is typically only for the current teachers in their room. Our Kindergartner was well prepared for the transition from Daycare/Preschool to Kindergarten...our Toddler has transitioned well from 1's, to 2's and now 3's. The facilities are very accommodating, and clean...I have never had an issue with any thing of that sort. We have visited, interviewed parents, and sent our kids to other preschools before finding Color Wheel...and there isn't another place in Baton Rouge that even compares. Its simply the best.
Edit: I can’t leave this as five stars in good consciousness. Our two boys went here with no issues and things were great. There was a change in admin over the past year and things have gone down hill substantially. We dis-enrolled my daughter and moved her to another daycare. I would have loved to have stayed out the entirety of her daycare career, but it just wasn’t in the cards. Things just weren’t as they were a few years ago.
Terrible daycare. It was not like this with the previous director. You can go on facebook & see everything that has been going on. Place is absolutely disgusting & unorganized. the director has little to no knowledge about anything she’s doing. She’s very unprofessional & unorganized. This place is filthy my daughter stayed sick. Do not waste your time nor money here.
Wow I LOVE living in an apartment complex that is next door to this daycare that allows children to scream BLOODY MURDER at 830 in the damn morning. I know you are aware there is an apartment complex next door and not every one works during the day, some of us work until 2 am or later and would love to get to sleep past 8 am without being woken up by these brats that are obviously not being supervised or controlled. I get that they are outside, but I shouldn't be able to hear them from this apartment complex. Jesus Christ.
