What Parents Say
Color Me French Preschool is a highly regarded French immersion preschool in San Francisco with outstanding reviews praising its creative, enriching curriculum and strong community. Parents highlight the school's focus on arts, outdoor exploration, music, and hands-on learning that fosters curiosity and language development. The school's leadership, particularly Karine and Fabienne, is consistently credited with creating a nurturing environment where children thrive academica
As a native French speaker, we were searching for a school where our daughter could learn and speak French with other children. We found that and so much more at CMF. For us, the experience can be summed up in what we call the 3 Cs of Color Me French: Creativity Karine is deeply passionate about nurturing curiosity and creative expression through music, art, science, food, and hands-on exploration, all while fostering a genuine respect for nature and the environment. From the weekly music lessons to the insect studies and art projects, our daughter was continually inspired. Even now, at almost six years old, she is so proud to share the artwork she created during her time at CMF. Community We formed lifelong friendships at CMF. Beyond the birthday parties and playdates, it was truly special to see parents coming together to support one another, both during school events and in day-to-day life. That sense of connection and kindness is something we will always cherish. Culture With monthly field trips to city parks, museums, and cultural institutions, the children were exposed to the richness of the world around them. These outings helped them learn, explore, and appreciate the diversity of their community—both locally and globally. Merci Karine et Fabienne pour votre dédication, compassion et votre amitié
Karine has created an incredibly enriching learning environment here. The various learning methods, the hands on experiences and exposures, and the beautiful and above and beyond and other learning environment art work crafted here is more than I could have dreamed of. My daughter attending here was a gift to her and I wish school curriculum for all grade levels would be more in this fashion. Children would learn better and actually enjoy school. I can’t recommend CMF enough, my daughter’s French also grew a lot, even though going in she knew practically nothing. We love you CMF!
Our family was fortunate to be a part of the wonderful Color Me French community for six years, and it was a truly sad moment when our youngest finished preschool. CMF is more than just a preschool, it is a community where children and parents alike create meaningful friendships, setting it apart from other schools. When we first discovered CMF, the language immersion was an added bonus, but now we see how much it has benefited our entire family. Karine genuinely cares about enriching the children to become curious, emotionally regulated, conscientious human beings. She makes certain the kids engage in both fine and gross motor skill development. The children create incredible art, explore themes of nature and environmental care, frequently visit the park or play in the outdoor space so they're not cooped up inside all day. They also regularly prepare seasonal food, involving the kids throughout the process. My son even had two helpings of a veggie soup made from vegetables harvested from the CMF garden! The classroom is transformed into a new theme every few weeks, keeping the children engaged in pretend play while learning. Color Me French is one of the best experiences our children could have had, and our eldest (nearly 9 years old) still talks about her time at Color Me French. A huge thank you to Karine, Fabienne, and all the other teachers at CMF!
Our daughter attended CMF for one year. One of the saddest parts about moving away from SF was leaving this wonderful school! Our daughter still talks about how she misses Karine and Fabienne and that her old school was better because they went to the park. I loved the focus on art, the different learning themes, the park outings, and teaching them so early about the environment - they even had a beach clean up day! My husband (French) was very happy with the French immersion curriculum and how much our daughter’s French improved at this school. Our daughter learned so much here and is ahead on her numbers and letters at her new French school.
I sent both of my children to CMF, the youngest having just graduated last year. Both of my children are now thriving in Elementary School, with much credit due to Karine and her team. Above all, they helped my kids develop a voracious appetite to learn, which is an incredible skill to have, and a foundation that they can use to make any school approachable and important. I am thankful for CMF and everything the school and its community have provided to my family!
