What Parents Say
Reviews praise the Clayton County Parks & Recreation facility for its clean, well-maintained grounds and diverse recreational amenities. Parents appreciate the friendly atmosphere, reasonable pricing, and variety of programs available for children and families of all ages.
Miss Arlene has the worst customer service I’ve ever dealt with. She is rude and very disrespectful. This will be my family’s last time here because she is CONSISTENT with her rude behavior. She should not be in a place where she has to deal with the public.
The basketball courts are not maintained at all, and the amount of dust is concerning. DO NOT DO NOT play here; you will get injured!!
Great recreational center. great atmosphere. Very good and clean pool. I like the playing fields with that's around it.the gym they keep Very good as well.
I was told that my son could not continue to attend the after-school program after I reported that he told me that other kids were bullying him and throwing sports balls at him while no staff member was available to assist him or witness it. I called and spoke to a staff member about it who was quick to completely shut down my claims. She informed me that if I didn't think my son was safe, that she more than "understood". When I mentioned that my intention was to simply get more information about the situation to inform my further actions, she mentioned her credentials as a behavior technician for 25 years (to which I mentioned that I am currently an ABA therapist) and that the method I mentioned to the "coach" the day prior in dealing with sensory distractions in my son (a simple countdown that many early childhood teachers use in the classroom), she said that they would not be doing that and that he would not be receiving special treatment as it is not a "therapeutic" environment. She was rude, dismissive and constantly talked over me while dismissing my concerns throughout the phone call about my son's safety. After she made that specifc comment it is safe to say, I lost it at that point and was told he could not return. I NEVER received clarity on what actually happened to my son and while I am more than glad to have my son excluded at this point because of me and my advocacy for him, it makes me so angry it even happened. This is my first time dealing with Clayton County public schools and my son's first year in public school with this county and I have never felt so anxious and out of place. I believe the actions and comments of the worker was a result of ageism. She spoke to me dismissively and disrespectfully because I am a younger parent. She discredited my concerns and chopped it up to me being immature and wanting to receive special treatment for my son, rather than the fact that I am educated and advocated for my son when things seemed clearly off after only a week. I know this is a recreational center, and it was an adjustment. But the safety of our children as well as efforts against bullying should ALWAYS be a priority for every entity dealing with children!!! Further, parents should not be treated like villians and suffer retaliation when we do report incidents like this!!! I will be reporting this facility's after-school program.
I absolutely love my Community Center! I feel safe, the gym area is always clean, awesome customer service and I am a member of Ray's Old School Corner there. Oh, they a pool too!!
