What Parents Say
This is not a daycare center but a recreation facility. Reviews praise the extensive amenities, cleanliness, and helpful staff. It serves as a community resource for fitness, swimming, events, and family activities.
This is a beautiful, clean & well managed Recreation center! It has a grande entrance, tons of elliptical, rowing, weightlifting, bicycling, treadmill & other workout machines, with an indoor walking track & gorgeous workout room with wooden floors & tons of blocks, excercise balls, platforms for stepping up, etc to use-all on 2nd level. Great locker areas & showers. A steam room & dry sauna, adult only, co-ed hot tub in the relaxation pool areas. Swimming: huge lap pool that goes to 12ft deep. Another small lap/exercise pool, tiny kid's area (I've never seen the water slide operating, which is the one thing that would hope they improve). Thru have a fun lazy river pool that you can float/swim in, or use to walk against the current! Friendly, helpful staff & a quick check in-usually 2 desks open! Comfortable, size inclusive seating with a stone fireplace. Racquetball & basketball court. Children's supervision, I'm pretty sure? Highly recommend, what a community resource. I'm here on a Thursday at noon & though it's moderately busy, there are many machines available to use. An eclectic crowd that are all here to excercise, not show off or judge, which is nice. The facilities are also always impeccably clean. Good spot. Discounts for Wheatridge residents & options like day passes, electronic punch pass package or monthly recurring memberships. Affordable!
Overall, this is a great, family-friendly recreation center with a lot to offer. The children’s pavilion is convenient and well set up, and I can see it being a good option for older kids. That said, I would not recommend the children’s pavilion for babies under 1 year old. When I returned after being gone for about 45 minutes, I found my 11-month-old hyperventilating from crying so hard. I was never contacted by staff during that time. I was told she didn’t want to be held, and that staff allowed her to cry on the floor while they picked up toys around her. While I understand that caring for infants can be challenging, I was disappointed by the lack of communication and the way the situation was handled. With better protocols for infants — especially regarding comforting and contacting parents — this could be a much stronger experience for families
We used the ballroom available at the Wheat Ridge Recreational center for our post wedding celebration and it was AMAZING!! The space was perfect for the amount of guests we had and looked so lovely!! They even let us have a food truck parked out front for our guests to enjoy with zero issue at all. The gentleman that was there to assist us was so helpful and quick whenever we needed anything at all. This place is so much more than just a rec center and I will definitely be using their party space again in the future! Shout out to Katie Waters for being amazing every step of the way and answering my million questions during the planning process!!!
The management doesn't care about the rights of the disabled. There are 2 bathrooms that are setup to deal with he needs of the disabled and the signage is not large enough and in the correct location for people to read. I have included a pic of the signage at the bathroom along with a notice that the Lap pool will be closed. The document about the Lap pool is a full sheet with large lettering including Attention. I have asked numerous times including comment cards and emails to the City. This place was great before I became disabled, now I have to wait up to 30 minutes to change for families that aren't disabled and when I ask they had no idea about this. BE BETTER WHEAT RIDGE!!!!
The last 2 times I have swam here they decide to scrub the pool walls while people are swimming. This of course puts crud into the water as it works it's way to the filter. I personally find it gross. Do that while no one is in there. I don't clean my bath while taking a bath why clean while people are swimming. 🤢
