What Parents Say
Christ Church Episcopal Preschool receives mostly positive reviews praising its nurturing, faith-based environment, outdoor spaces, and caring teachers. However, one detailed negative review highlights concerns about administrative changes, placement decisions, and communication with new leadership.
As a retired independent school administrator, I highly recommend Christ Church Episcopal Preschool. I observed how this nurturing environment, centered on God's love, positively shaped children's development, fostering empathy, respect, and an appreciation for diversity. Several children transitioned to our school, bringing valuable skills in building relationships and collaboration. Parents felt engaged and supported, enriching their children's experiences. This strong foundation made a significant difference in their readiness for future learning, promoting growth in compassionate individuals—essential for success in education.
We originally signed up for Christ Church with head of school Kim Wagner who was absolutely wonderful in accommodating our son into their 4 year long pre school program. We sent our son to Christ church for their 15 month program for the 2023-2024 school year and loved it. When it came time to start the 2024-2025 school year we were surprised right before the start of school our son would be placed in the first year class again instead of moving up to the 2s and continuing the plan of the 4 year program they offer and he was the only student doing so. We enrolled in February of 2024 right when reenrollment was offered and we were never told that repeating a level could be a possibility nor would of been okay with it. When we first mentioned this to the brand new head of school Mrs. Abio she told us she would do whatever needed to be done to get him into the right level even if it required moving some things around. When we then met Mrs. Abio in person her tone had changed completely. She offered no resolution and instead only tried to convince us that after popping in on our son for two days she knew exactly where he was developmentally and that he was in the right place with children younger than him in their first year of schooling. She had no concern that we already saw our son was a lot further along than the children in his new class, she seemed to have no care for any of our concerns and wanted to tell us her plan for our child with none of our input. Mrs. Abio insisted that with our son's birthday he would be in two years of one level even though his birthday was similar to children he attended the first year with and would of continued on to kindergarten with at the same time. She boasted how the school always pairs with families to develop a plan and to figure out what parents want from the school but their was no such conversation with us. Mrs. Abio's handling of our situation and showing us her classroom ratio was far more important than building a relationship with a family and hearing our concerns led to our decision to withdrawal our son from CCEP. We know where our child is developmentally and it was not where he was placed even when we enrolled plenty in advance to reserve his placement. Let alone the fact she would not acknowledge that with her proposal he would miss an entire year of their offered program and be a year behind the entire time there. He would of had two years of level one which is 15-under 24 months, gone to two year old program when he was already 3 and then gone to 3s when he was 4 and completely missed their PreK level which is normally for 4 and up. Requirement for 2s was 2 by September 1st and his birthday is in June. The new leadership at CCEP has been extremely eye opening and disappointing. I would highly recommend looking into other establishments. This is not the school it was just a short time ago when we initially enrolled and it is very sad to see. A school that advertises themselves as one of the best pre kindergarten programs should hold themselves to a higher standard.
We are so happy with CCEP! Our children are learning to be confident, independent thinkers and kind to others. They love all of the outdoor time and options - multiple playgrounds, open space, vegetable gardens and wooded area. They are encouraged to discover and enjoy being outside. The teachers truly love and care for each child as an individual. My picky eater even eats (and loves) all of the vegetables served at lunch.
We love this preschool! Both of our children have attended and enjoyed the kind teachers and beautiful outdoor surroundings. You cannot find a better place to prepare your children for kindergarten. It has become such a community for us and many of the other mothers have become my closest friends. You really have to see this place in person to fully appreciate all it offers!
Spectacular, supportive environment for a child’s formative years of development.
