What Parents Say
Childworks Texas City receives mixed reviews. Four parents praise the friendly, caring staff and report their children love attending. One parent had serious concerns about staff medical advice, communication regarding health incidents, and CPS involvement.
4 months ago Nursery staff, Fedra Billiot thinks 3 years experience qualifies her to diagnose my child of something “she's never seen before” she thought was a nodule or hernia on my sons chest in which she thought was a good idea to draw a circle around it after I already told them what it was. I’m sorry but I will not take advice from an employee who is not a doctor or doesn’t have any medical background whatsoever to get a second opinion on his sternum poking out which is called “xiphoid process”. Doctors stated is normal and got confirmation the day after he was brought home to me as it was a concern to me as well. My child was almost 11lbs when he was born and was in Nicu for a whole month for his breathing and had X-rays done regularly for it in order to be able to come home. I think if it was a problem they would’ve mentioned it to me so with that being said. Make sure you tell these staff all your kids medical history so they don’t try and claim medical neglect on you like they did me as well as failing to notify me when my son turned blue on the first week, but want to tell cps that was another reason which I had no clue about!! My son just had a well checkup the day before they mentioned the “nodule” but was sick so my doctor told me they weren’t giving him his shots because he could get worse and to reschedule when he was better. I rescheduled for the next week as I wanted confirmation for them to know “their concerns” was in fact nothing, but had to cancel for him still being sick. Nursery workers stayed in communication with me up until they found out I had to cancel his appointment for that day. If they were that worried about my son they should’ve told me something everyday I came in to pick him up and asked questions how he did that day. Instead they smile in your face and say he did good and then call cps on you as soon as you turn your back. The next day I had to take him out early for another appointment that was set and nursery didn’t communicate with me that day as well when they normally do. They clearly need better communication. My oldest came home with different hair styles everyday last week and once I asked what they were using they want to tell me they each have their own brush in which I did not provide and I don’t believe is true. They tell me “it sounds like you don’t trust us”? He’ll no, I don’t trust anybody!! Especially after finding out through a cps worker that my son turned blue the first week and neither I or my husband was ever told about it. That was the reason he went to Nicu , because he turned blue when he was feeding. They will soon be removed from this daycare immediately and best believe I will be doing better research on their next daycare. I will call whoever necessary to get this looked into.
Two out of three of my kids go here and they absolutely love it, all the teachers are great, never wanted to try a daycare out but once I took them in, they blossomed and they are doing so wonderful, thank you so much for all that y’all do.
Childworks is a GREAT daycare! The workers are very friendly and professional. In a great neighborhood. I would definitely recommend this daycare.
