Our daughter went to the Children’s All Day School every year from the infant room through the end of Pre-K. She loved, loved, loved it. As she got older, she would go visit favorite teachers from previous years and the school became another home. Last year, with school administrators’ support and advice, our daughter got into both of our top private school choices for K-12 programs. There are strong Upper East Side public school options (PS6, Hunter, etc.) but other classmates’ private school placement was also excellent. The “All Day” part of the CADS name is important. We had the option to drop off between 8 - 9 am and pick up as late as 6 pm. The school ALSO runs a full summer program. This flexibility was huge. What else? Staff: The health of the school is reflected in the long tenure of the staff. Many have been around for 10+ years and are clearly devoted to their work. Some have advanced degrees, but most importantly, they give care and support to each child’s individual needs. Outdoor time: We have a VERY energetic kid, but she made the most of the 2x a day backyard time. It could be challenging to get her to leave at 5:30pm. We’re so grateful to this program and the healthy, playful, confident girl it helped us raise.
My son Henry spent two of his formative Preschool years at the Children's All Day School. Now that he is in Kindergarten, he frequently reminisces about his great times playing and learning at C.A.D.S. He recently told me that the minute he "gets a day off," he wants to visit his old teachers and share stories about his new school life. Henry's fond memories and his eagerness to visit the school are heartwarming confirmation that he was truly loved, cared for and taught by a very knowledgeable and dedicated staff--from the office management team down to the teachers' aids. I will always look back on these two years knowing in my heart of hearts that this was truly the BEST environment for a toddler to evolve and grow in, as well as for a mom to feel comfortable letting go of her "baby!"
