What Parents Say
Centro Mater Walker Park receives mixed reviews with most parents praising the caring staff, bilingual education, and supportive environment. However, some parents report serious concerns including inadequate support for children with special needs, lack of incident documentation, and insufficient staffing.
Sophia has been at Centro Mater Walker Park since she was 3 years old, and I can truly say this center has been a blessing for our family. Her teachers, Ms. Maipu and Ms. Mayda, are the best educators I have ever met caring, patient, and truly invested in their students growth and happiness. The director, Mr. Jaime, manages to handle everything while still making each child’s well being his top priority. It’s clear he genuinely cares for every child at the center. Ms. Nayade is always there whenever something is needed, offering help with kindness and efficiency. This is the best child care center I have ever seen not only is it beautifully maintained, but the entire administration and teaching staff go above and beyond every single day! For the past two years, I’ve been able to leave my daughter in their care with total peace of mind, knowing she is safe, loved, and learning. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Centro Mater Walker Park is simply the best!
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS! Before I begin, I want to emphasize that my opinions and comments regarding others are based on my personal experience and perception. What I am sharing is solely my own viewpoint. I believe as a parent our priority should be to find a safe, nurturing and positive environment for our children to grow academically and emotionally and where NO CHILD is discriminated against for any reason. My 3 year old daughter for starters she’s on the high autism spectrum and has ADHD which you see more characteristics of that, when she started this school there was 2 months left and she had never been in a daycare so she wasn’t used to routine like the other kids and only speaks English (and the teachers don’t, which they told me themselves). I would get complaints almost everyday about how she’d climb, play with the water at the sink, not participate in circle time and even that she was non verbal which was shocking because she actually has an ADVANCED vocabulary. Shortly after her therapist started with her she noticed that the teachers basically would ignore her since she spoke ENGLISH and they also told her that she could have a corner of the classroom to work with my child. They had NO INTENTIONS to include her. I expressed my concerns to the school where a meeting was held and they said and I quote “we’re not going to change anything so if you are unhappy then why do you have her here” I stayed shocked to say the least! To continue they also were trying to get me to place her in public school with an IEP and even after multiple times stating that I wasn’t choosing to go that route at the moment they still continued to try to get me to do so. Another incident that occurred there before the therapist started with her was I picked her up one day with NAIL MARKS embedded in her arm as if the teacher had held her like that for a while. I immediately called the school and expressed how upsetting it was to find her with marks. They told me to come in the morning to the office and all I got was an apology. NO INCIDENT REPORT WAS WRITEN. To end this I ended up MOVING HER to a new school where we received a warm welcoming and we are much more happier thus far. The slogan for this school is because at centro matter, every child matters but that is NOT the case here! I HIGHLY recommend you DO NOT put your child here especially if they have any type of special needs!
Excellent place. Highly recommend
