What Parents Say
Carolina Academy receives mixed reviews with five 5-star ratings praising the facility's cleanliness, caring staff, healthy meals, and child development, but two 1-star reviews citing serious concerns about owner conduct, inconsistent policies, communication issues, and inadequate incident reporting.
My Children have been going here for nearly a year and we are very happy. They have really worked with my schedule to meet my kids needs. The meals served are well proportioned and healthy. The teachers have been loving and work really hard through potty training, having enough outside play and overall care. The building is clean, quiet, and the staff is friendly. I would recommend to anyone.
I cannot sing enough praises about this facility! My daughter attended there for almost a year, until recently when we had to relocate. It broke our hearts that we had to leave. She loved going to daycare!. I never once worried, or was concerned about leaving her in their care! The teachers were often on the children's learning level and engaged with them individually and in group settings. I felt that my daughter was taught to be a creative, well rounded tiny human. I highly recommend this facility when seeking childcare.
The owner (Tina) of this place should not be running a daycare. Aside from it being a decent facility (besides a few minor things like not caring for diaper rashes properly, some of the staff is not as hands on as the others, there were several instances where my daughter had bites/bruises and I’d have to ‘bother’ them for an incident report) - she is an absolute nightmare. She discontinued care for my children on a DAY notice - because I questioned why my son couldn’t return after 72 hours of being without a fever he never had (as his temperature was checked upon entry at 8am...I was called around 9:15 to come pick him up and upon me getting him home took his temp - no fever. Not the first time they did this which is why I began checking my children’s temperature myself) She had spent several minutes on the phone yelling at me, not answering any of my questions, threatening to close her facility, and crying hysterically. I thought about trying to smooth things over but what a childish, unprofessional, and unstable woman. Definitely don’t want her around my children after that. I couldn’t believe a caretaker was this petty during a pandemic. I had to quit my job because of this. Wouldn’t recommend this place unless this women lets one of her directors take over. This was not the first instance where she had freaked out either - literally do not say anything to her or ask questions or she will take it as you’re “telling her how to run her business.” To discontinue care - a random note (no letter head, no signature, no date, NOTHING of professional quality - basically continuing to tell me off via note) was sent home with my children along with their things which definitely was not all the stuff they had there but we’ll take the loss.
My daughter went here until she went to kindergarten. My son still attends. My children love/loved it here. Ms. Candida and Ms. Vanessa are my favorites. They always tell me how my son's day was. I feel like Im leaving him with friends.
If you’re thinking about bringing your child here, don’t. They open late and close early frequently with no notice. If you need to take your child to a doctors appointment your not allowed to bring them after. They find every excuse not to watch your child and still get paid for it. Horrible communication and have no desire to work with you on anything. My grandson had frequent bruises that no one knew what happened. Once his notice was put in to go to a different center they decided to send a letter home saying that we’re cutting his notice short and wouldn’t be able to attend. Horrible management and facility!
