What Parents Say
Butler/Mason YMCA Childcare in Thomasville is praised for its recreational programs, particularly pools, sports activities, and martial arts classes. Parents appreciate the clean, safe environment and fun atmosphere. However, some report operational challenges including overcrowding in summer, high costs, poor communication about enrollment, and inconsistent organization in programming.
Overcrowded in the summer, extremely expensive, doesn't discourage bullying, and worst of all if you wait a whole year to get your child a spot they won't let you know unless you call and then need to scramble to find childcare. We definitely need more childcare options for kids in the summer, the Y cannot take them all, and if they did you would pay out of the nose for it.
There is a picture of the pool with people enjoying it at the top of the website. Below that is a schedule of times open. We came at 11:45 on Wednesday with children and were told the pool isn't open for the public until 1:00 As YMCA members we were very unhappy. It seems to me that you wouldn't want to make kids cry.
When I went to the YMCA last week to register my son for a fall sport a young lady told me I had to register him online only. I tried to register him online today, however his scholarship price was not available online, therefore I called the YMCA and another lady told me I would have to come to the facility to register. Since I work out of town, I decided to call back and spoke with Bridgette. Bridgette provided awesome customer service. She allowed me to register via phone since I work out of town and I would not have made it to the YMCA before they closed today.
The staff here do not care about your children. That's the bottom line. My child went to the afterschool butler mason care. She has a medical condition that causes her to be very susceptible to overheating, which can lead to serious medical complications such as heat strokes. Despite being informed of this, the staff would attempt to force her to play sports after school, and then punish her when she'd refuse. The staff are more interested in having a pact with each other than in standing up for the unacceptable treatment of the children in their care, when other staff memebers are abusing their positions of power. I do not reccomend sending your children here. It's also worth noting that a child was molested in the bathrooms there not long after I cancelled our memebership.
My family enjoys the pools the most . But the Kung fu program is my daughter's favorite. Thanks for having a clean safe environment for my family to enjoy year around.
