I recently attended this church for the 2024 No Longer Bound Banquet. I personally attended the men’s program 22 years ago and my life was changed. The Lord saved me from the pit of despair where I was reeling and addiction and hopelessness. Buckhead church hosted us for an incredible evening and their senior pastor made everyone feel loved and valued as he shared hope and love in Christ. I sat with one of the staff people, Cara and was blown away and honored by her kindness and hospitality. Lots of history in this place. Thankful to have been there for this event.
A pretty good overall experience. Traveled from out of town and this church was local enough to my hotel. In an effort to not miss out on my regular Sunday services I made it a point to attend. The topic for the sermon series that week was around "Patience." Something many of us can all use more of. The delivery was well put together. The supporting examples were humorous and relatable. The praise and worship was good. In it's entirety the service was short and sweet. About an hour 15 minutes. When traveling to Atlanta I normally stay in the Buckhead area, this will be a church I frequent if my visits extend beyond Saturday. If you're seeking the word and would like to fellowship on a Sunday, it's worth it to drop in.
It’s crazy to think that the people running this organization have a massive building and land tax free given to them by the kindness of their members- and there’s homeless people all around Atlanta about to be faced with the harsh reality of winter. Most of that tax free dough goes to salary and building. The truth is at most, 6 cents of the dollar gets outside the walls. That’s assuming the pastor isn’t living a lavish lifestyle. I would encourage members to pay attention to that, and if it seems excessive- give your money somewhere else where more than 6 cents tops will go to the actual community needs.
I’ve been attending BC for almost 5 years now. I love it and my favourite is The Living Room for College students on Monday nights. The main service however I think could be a bit more diverse. It’s a totally different environment on Monday nights than on Sundays. I love their Sunday school and I actually volunteer there. It’s a good place to attend when you are building your faith. Pastor Andy Stanley I mean is usually on point with his preaching.
The church looks fancy from the outside, but unfortunately there was no real help when I needed it. Beautiful appearance, but the support and guidance I expected just wasn’t there.
