What Parents Say
Parents consistently praise B'nai Tikvah as a warm, welcoming community with inclusive leadership, particularly toward interfaith families. The facility is noted for excellent Hebrew school programming, adult education opportunities, and strong social connections. Members highlight the congregation's flexibility, affordability, and commitment to instilling Jewish values in children.
I have been a member of Congregation B'nai Tikvah for over ten years. It is a warm, Hamish synagogue where men and women are treated equally and people are both welcomed and encouraged to get involved. The staff and clergy will do everything to make you feel welcome. The synagogue is very flexible and evolving. They are willing to work with anyone regardless of how Jewish you want to be. And the cost is the lowest on the North Shore! The Hebrew School has undergone several positive changes in the past couple of years. The curriculum has been updated to roll with the times. The children and their parents are very happy. B'nai Tikvah has helped to instill values that are important to Jewish youth in the 21st century. As for me, I have been able to get involved in the men’s club. The club is growing and constantly doing new and relevant programming. If you are looking for a synagogue where you are not judged but accepted, if you are looking for a synagogue where your children are prepared for their Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and are afforded an excellent education, if you are looking for a synagogue which runs a youth program that is both fun and instills important values in your children, and if you are looking for a synagogue that exudes warmth, then Congregation B'nai Tikvah is certainly the synagogue that you should belong to. My family is very proud to be members and will for years to come.
I’ve been a member at B’Nai Tikvah Synagogue for the past 5 years. I feel that I’ve been a part of a large family. The members are warm and inviting. Many of my friends have even joined, and our kids are part of the religious school. The synagogue constantly has speaking events, social activities and lots of opportunities for learning, both for my kids and my adult friends. I’m truly proud to be a member here.
My family has been members of B'nai Tikvah for over 21 years. The adult education programming is terrific. Conversational Hebrew, Lore in the Loop & Suburbs (Torah/Jewish wisdom discussions), and movie nights are but a few offerings. My wife enjoys the sisterhood's book club that meets in different member's homes on a monthly basis. If I had to sum up the most important aspect of the shul, it would be the warmth of our community.
B'nai Tikvah is a warm and welcoming place. As members for nearly 20 years, my family and I have enjoyed participating in services, youth & adult education and many holiday and other activities, plus we've made life-long friends among our fellow congregants and B'nai Tikvah's wonderful staff and clergy.
We just had the baby naming of our daughter at the synagogue, and as a interfaith couple we felt very welcomed and included by the Rabbi. My husband who is not jewish was concerned about being part of the naming and not understanding. In the past the conservative movement has not had open arms to us as an interfaith couple/family, but the naming was quite the opposite. Rabbi Alex made my husband feel very included via the blessings (english & hebrew) by saying his name and making sure both of our names are on her certificate. My non jewish husband was very hesitant going into the naming and afterwards he said he was very impressed and it was great to finally feel recognized as my husband and the father of our kids. Thank you Rabbi!
