What Parents Say
Bedford Area Family YMCA receives consistently high praise from members for its clean facilities, friendly staff, and recent renovations including a splash pad and new children's center. Parents appreciate the variety of activities available for both children and adults, including summer camp, after-school care, and recreational amenities. The facility is noted as a welcoming community gathering space.
I was actually there, just to drop off my grandson, because I had gotten to spend the day with him, and his mother was there. People there seemed nice. The facilities appeared nice and clean.
Great small town YMCA. Never too crowded, always clean, friendly staff. About to do a 10 day weight room and cardioroom renovation and upgrade! Looking forward to it!
We absolutely love our local YMCA! The pool is our go-to but the gym has certainly proven to have all that we need when we take a break from the chlorine. We're looking forward to trying out the new courts when we have the chance, and we must say that the splash pad was such a wonderful addition and the kids have a blast waiting for the filled buckets to spill over on them. Your improvements to the Y have been refreshing. Now we just need to update that playground for the kiddos!
Afterschool program is a piece of work. The director for afterschool says things like, "We have to advertise that we're all inclusive, but I just don't have the staff for it." and "I have 6 different sites, I am one person. I can't be at all of them every day to make sure the teachers are following my direction, and what am I going to do, fire them? I don't have enough staff as it is." Kids are bullied, teachers are told, nothing is done. They let my SIX YEAR OLD walk right out of the school and had no idea he was outside on the sidewalk right beside a road. One of the teachers calls kids names, the director says that since that teacher has worked there longer than her, there's no way he does things like that-so this teacher apparently does nothing wrong and has no consequences. They have no control over the children and have no idea how to gain control. Turn over is also a joke, with questionable hires. I could keep going. Please let me know if you'd like to hear more.
This is our favorite Y for summer. Having the spray pad and picnic shelter is so much fun! And a fenced in playground (it is sand fyi) which is fun but just prepare π they also have outside bathrooms and a field to play soccer or just run around.
