What Parents Say
Barkley YMCA CDC receives mixed reviews. Multiple parents praise the caring staff, effective teaching methods, and organized communication systems. However, several parents express serious concerns about staff smoking, inconsistent attendance policies, overly strict illness protocols, and alleged inappropriate staff conduct involving CPS reporting.
Very disappointed with this place, they use every excuse to take off, working in retail you can't count on these guys to watch your children they want every single holiday off and the days on each end of said holiday, when in retail this is unheard of this is supposed to help parents be able to attendtheir jobs especially when they have no one else to count on taking the 23rd thru the 28th of December off is impossible for most parents. If a kid barely coughs they send them home, if a kid scrapes their knee they send them home. It's not a true daycare, they've even sent out texts to parents that "we don't have enough people today were closed" its absolutely ridiculous! Sure bring your kids when we're ready, and you deal with the hardships of loosing a job because you have no one to watch them business. Get it together guys!
We’ve taken our daughter here for the last year and a half and the YMCA has been fantastic. They do a really good job teaching kind words, safe hands, and other helpful habits that have stuck with our daughter. The staff is always very friendly and they seem very organized whether it be end of the day reports or updates through the app.
My son attended this daycare in 2021-2022, his teachers were always very kind and patient. They had an app that they used to communicate with parents. My son loved going to his class every morning! His teacher Anika was amazing with the toddlers and aways kept me updated on how his day went!
I agree with Jennifer’s 1 star review. After my partner and I split, this childcare center took clear sides. The father had barely been seen at the center prior to our separation. My child’s “teacher” accidentally let it slip that she had been texting with him the night before when she was on her day off. I found out months later that she wrote up a ridiculous report against me to CPS around the time she said she was texting with him. The report basically said that I seemed spacey when 3 conversations came at me at once when I picked up our child. Apparently enough to make a report *a week later* that she found that concerning. Find any other place. Seriously. We have flourished in our new school since being gone from this toxic place a year and a half ago. And yes, the “teachers” clearly smoke right outside the doors.
My daughter started attending this daycare at 2 years old and has been here for almost 3 years. I have loved the teachers she has had the last couple of years. They have taught her a lot and I personally know the teachers genuinely care about the kids and their education. I would recommend this daycare center for ages 2-5.
