What Parents Say
Appleseed Learning Academy's Orlando location receives consistently high praise from current parents who describe a nurturing, family-like environment with caring staff and flexible hours. However, the facility is owned by Leonteen Gillis, whose Clermont location closed abruptly in 2016 after collecting tuition payments without warning and failing to pay teachers, raising serious concerns about the owner's business practices and financial trustworthiness.
Thank goodness her Clermont location daycare is closed down. Good riddance to Leonteen. Fraudulent and let down is all I have to say about her. She forced parents to pay for a FULL WEEK of daycare services on Monday then fled with the money for herself. She owed all the teachers weeks of paychecks and locked up the doors without notice and left teachers, parents, the kids outside in the cold,LITERALLY. She has another daycare in Orlando and I would highly recommend that you NOT go there unless you want to lose your money, have your child's belongings locked up, and leave you without a proper daycare service.
Ms. Lee and her staff are awesome!! My daughter has been with her for two years and she is like family. You have no idea how much of a life saver she has been to me and my child. I am a single mom with limited support and I can honestly say she stepped in when no one would to help me. My daughter will be eligible for VPK next year and I on the fence about even moving her. I am trying to convince her to get the program... fingers cross. But if you want that nurturing, loving, safe, educational environment, you’re in the right place!!
Despite what the last reviews say, Ms. Lee and her staff are pnenominal. They welcomed my family with open arms and treat us like family. I have 3 children that attend Appleseed Learning Academy and they have been there for over 2 years. One of my children has a learning disability and larger facilities wasn't a fit for him. Ms. Carmen, his teacher, is a blessing and made my child's childcare experience the best. As far as what the news and the upset parents from Clermont are saying, Ms. Lee has been very helpful, caring and personable with her families at her Orlando location. Her staff has been here for a while and always seem happy which reflects on the service they give the children. I have never seen an attitude or any behavior that would reflect unhappiness from the staff or parents. Give this place a try, don't believe everything you read!!! They make you feel like family, they are open extended hours and Saturday, great place if your child isn't fit for large centers or just coming from in-home care, all in all they get 5 stars.
Leonteen Gillis owns this facility and the Appleseed Clermont. On Jan 6, 2016 she left a note on the door at the Clermont location that she was closing with NO WARNING! She waited until Wednesday after she cashed and cleared all of the weekly tuition payments! She did not pay the teachers for 2+weeks that she owed them and never refunded the parents for the tuition either. If she will do it in Clermont she could do it somewhere else. The simple fact that she took the money from parents knowing she was going to close the facility is shameful. I understand if you are out of money and have to close up shop, but don't take people's hard earned money while you are cruising around. Disgraceful!
My son attended school here for a while. Price was a steal and the care for my son was amazing. My son isn't the easiest child to care for so, that I was able to TRUST Apple Seed and the entire staff with my baby - it was pretty impressive. If you are a single parent, such as myself and have a crazy work schedule, look for Apple seed and speak with Lee. She won't fail you!
