Let me start by saying the campus is very nice and clean! The admissions and financial aid staff, on the other hand, is pretty much useless. They are decently friendly, but it seems like no one at the desk is ever authorized to actually do anything aside from taking your info down and saying they’ll reach out to you (no one ever reaches out, by the way, shocker). I’ve visited over 8-10 times in the last 5 months, and the "higher-ups" are always out of the office or in meetings—every single time. I applied in August 2025 and it took 2 weeks and 3 visits just for them to even find my application because it supposedly got "filed into spam." Most CCs take 48 hours MAX. Because of that "spam incident," my financial aid was severely delayed. Even though I’m a California native, they flagged me as a non-resident and said they needed my official high school transcripts to prove it. Contacting LAUSD for transcripts is a nightmare and takes 3-4 months, but the admissions supervisor gave me a verbal green light to take my Fall classes anyway. She promised they would backdate the waiver and clear the non-resident tuition once the transcripts arrived. I finally brought my transcripts in today, and now they’re saying it’s 50/50 if the dean will even honor that since the Fall semester is already over. To make it worse, the dean has been out for the last 2 days and they had no idea when she’d even be back. They refused to even schedule an in person appointment with her for me. I even offered to set it for this Friday or even weeks out and told them they could just call to cancel if she wasn’t in, and they still said no. If someone is going to be out indefinitely, they need to bring in someone else to fill in and handle their responsibilities! I understand things and emergencies happen, but there is still business to be handled. Now they’re saying they can guarantee Spring will be cleared, but I can’t enroll in any classes until the $500 Fall balance is paid. What sense does that make?? Had I known this would happen, I never would’ve enrolled for Fall, but I trusted the supervisor’s word. I’m beyond disappointed. The staff is friendly, but they need a new chain of command if the bosses are always gone. It shouldn’t be this hard to better my future. I’m now pursuing enrollment at another college because I can’t deal with this faulty system anymore. Advice to future students: save yourself the headache and explore other schools if you can. If you do happen to end up here DO NOT take verbal promises here. Get everything time-stamped and in writing or you’ll end up stuck with a bill you weren't expecting.

I went to AVC today to seek assistance for enrollment for my disabled grandson and the Student Services receptionist was extremely rude. I really wish I would have gotten her name. It was Friday, 2/20/26 around 0930 am to help narrow down this individual. She spoke to me as if I wasn't a valuable human being seeking enrollment help. She was very dismissive and did not provided adequate information on enrollment. She truly seemed unhappy. I went to another receptionist who was very pleasant and accommodating providing proper guidance. I do not believe people who hate their jobs should interact with the public. ACV standards for employees are very low and my first impression is affected.

Great school to achieve academic success, there are a lot of programs that offer assistance paying for classes. There is the Eops department that offers support any student under 60 units, the rise program help current n past foster youth, star has support and resources for first generation students, then the cal-work department when your a parent or caregiver I like that at the school make resources support from the gain worker through the school, also if you attend orientation each semester you will get a gas card and a subway gift card (upon availability)that you can use on campus for they even provide cap and growns and a gift bag pack with goodies upon graduation. Overall there a senses of community for everyone on campus of any age group, disability, race or sexual orientation… the remodeling looks amazing as all the buildings are being renovated and even a few new buildings. The is a on campus daycare of parents or caregiver with small kids. This is also a smoke free campus If interested I suggest you sign up prior to the start of semester as it may take time to be approved. Also there’s a subway on campus. And a lot of parking the daily pass is only 1 $ each day if you opt out of the semester passes. There are a lot of spaces and tables throughout campus to enjoy the beautiful antelope valley scenery while studying or have lunch and a lot of bathroom throughout campus. Great job AVC!!

everyone on this campus rocks ... This campus is structured in a way that you have supportive services all over campus.. is actually structured for your success because your success is their success. There are many programs within the school that help you. There is book helps if you can't afford your books and fit the criteria there is Foster and former Foster youth support if you are a housing and sufficient food insecure it doesn't matter they have your back everyone here goes out of their way above and beyond ....With the exception of eops .... At least that's been my experience 😉one of their cutes students here waiting for his besties

I recently started looking into going back to school and reached out to the counseling office for some guidance. Unfortunately, my interaction with Maria Gudino wasn’t great. Her tone came across as rude and unprofessional, which made the whole experience pretty discouraging. Being that I haven’t attended school in quite some time, I was really hoping for some patience and understanding. Instead, I felt brushed off and unwelcome. For a department that’s supposed to be helping new or returning students, that kind of attitude just isn’t okay. I’ve decided to look elsewhere for my education, and I hope the school takes this as feedback to treat future students with more kindness and respect.
