What Parents Say
Alvarado Day School receives mostly glowing reviews praising its clean facilities, affordable pricing, caring staff, and success with child development milestones. However, two negative reviews cite serious concerns about communication gaps, safety protocols, staff engagement, and administrative accountability.
Unfortunately, my experience with this daycare has been incredibly disappointing and frustrating. Since my daughter's first day there, I rarely received any updates about my daughter’s day. No information about her meals, naps, or pictures. I received ONE picture her 5 months of being there. I brought up my concern and their excuse was they were "waiting on new tablets." I was never updated about the situation and eventually just left it alone once I felt unheard. My daughter came home with scratches on more than one occasion, and no one could explain what happened or even seemed concerned enough to follow up. My daughter would cry when she was another child as if she was scared of them. That’s not something any parent should have to deal with. I also noticed that some of the teachers would just sit on the floor, not really engaging or interacting with the children. It didn’t feel like a nurturing or stimulating environment at all. Communication with parents is also lacking—when I’d ask about my daughter’s day, the answers were very vague like "she had a good day" or uninformative. Ms. Nancy was the only teacher I felt comfortable with and she provided informative updates on how she was doing. What made everything worse was the lack of accountability from the director Carol and the front desk lady, I don't even know her name. I brought up a concern about not being informed of the center closing early and I was met with defensiveness and excuses which only added to my frustration. It felt like no one wanted to take ownership of anything that went wrong. I expected care, communication, and professionalism, and sadly, this daycare failed to deliver on all three.
I love this daycare. My daughter has been going for a few months, and she has the best teachers. They did a great job on getting her to nap on her own which is something I used to struggle with. And the director is awesome, if you have any schedule issues or financial issues she is always so helpful and really works with you on any problems you have. Plus this daycare is more affordable than some others I've toured
The nursey has a great ratio of staff to infants, is affordable, and is always super clean! The ladies who work the infant room always seem so patient, consistent, and loving with the babies. I have yet to drop my little one off and hear or see a baby upset! They seem to know my little one so well and even taught her to take a bottle in 2 days, which was something I had been trying to do for four months prior. I believe this shows their level of expertise and experience. I have been in many daycares around the city as an outside observer for my job, and I don't dish out 5 stars for childcare services lightly... My baby has not been upset once when I have dropped her off or picked her up, which is such a sign of being happy with her caregivers. You know it's a good infant room when your 6 month old fusses in the morning until she gets to her daycare 😄 I never worry about my baby when I am away. Ms. Carol has done a fabulous job with her classrooms. This place is a gem!
I went to check this place out because I work in the area and wanted to find a good place for my daughter. At first I was optimistic based on the location and then things took a turn for the worst. My problems were: 1. The front door was unlocked and I was able to just walk in. Daycare centers are supposed to be secure and locked at all times. 2. After walking in, the lady at the front desk had her back turned and only heard me after I said "Excuse Me!" about 4 times. 3. Right off the front area is the infant room, and based on numbers one and two and how unaware they were of me even entering their facility, it is frightening how easily accessible the infants are to strangers or homeless or druggies in the area. End of the story... we will not be sending our infant here for daycare.
Love this place I have 3 kids who have been going since they were 4 months old when I had to go to work. The facility is clean and the caregivers are so caring and loving. They must treat my kids like their own kids because they call their real grandparents "teacher".
