When we first enrolled our child in daycare, we were anxious, as we’d heard stories of children being mistreated. We chose Intersection Daycare because it was affordable and located in a church, so we assumed it was a safe option. We started part-time and thought things would be fine. However, after about a couple of months, we noticed that our child was being bitten frequently. We received a couple of messages through Brightwheel, explaining that biting is common at his age, but I still felt concerned. When I raised the issue, I requested a copy of the daycare's bite policy. The director explained that the policy was simple: if a child bites a certain number of times or draws blood, they would be sent home. Then, during the week of July 4th, our child came home with a large bite mark that was bruising. He seemed very uncomfortable, crying from the pain. When I spoke with the director, they reiterated the biting policy and assured me they were working with the family of the child who was doing the biting, as well as a behavioral specialist. When I mentioned the policies of other daycare centers, the director told me to “put myself in the other parent's shoes,” suggesting that the other family was missing work. She also said that while safety for my child was important, perhaps they needed to reassess their policy. After this conversation, I noticed the biting incidents became less frequent, and it seemed that the child who had been biting was no longer in my child’s class. However, more issues arose. Our child climbed onto a table and hit his face on the wall, causing swelling around his jaw, nose, and lip. I immediately picked him up after receiving a Brightwheel message about the incident, but the incident report I was handed later revealed he had been bleeding and seemed "a little off," neither of which were mentioned when I was first notified. A few weeks later, the same thing happened again—he fell after climbing on a table and hit his head. While this incident was less serious, I started questioning the level of supervision. It was after this that I began looking for a new daycare. I gave the required two weeks' notice, but on the second-to-last day, we received a message asking if we had noticed bruising on our child's wrist. We hadn’t, and when I picked him up, I wondered how a child could get a bruise on their wrist unless someone had grabbed it too roughly. I was unsure what had happened. The next day, when I arrived to pick up my child, the situation felt strange—no one spoke to me, and the director was standing near our child inside. Later, I received a message through Brightwheel saying that an employee had been fired for leaving the bruising on our child and apologizing for mishandling the situation . I feel it’s important that his story be shared, to know what type of care you will be receiving when you take your child to Insection Preschool and Daycare. And I urge to do research before putting your child in a daycare center. While we did read all reviews, the reviews about this center were not negative.
I honestly wouldn't even give this daycare 1 ⭐️, they changed their name from " the intersection." My daughter went there for 4 years, when she was 2 she broke her leg on a 6 foot tall toy outside that she shouldn't even have been on at that age, let alone by herself. They didn't call for an ambulance even though i had signed a waiver giving them permission to if necessary. I got there an hour later cause i was at work and all they had told me was she hurt her foot, and nay need to be seen by a Dr,. The second i see her i knew her leg was broke. The craziest thing I've ever witnessed in my life. They treated us so badly after that I incident, never checked in to see how she was recovering. I wanted to pull her out, but every other daycare was a year waitlist... this past July, I had my 4 year old, 1 year old, and 3 year old niece there and they were terrible, I would walk in and over hear how they would talk to the kids, they definitely don't teach them anything. It's a glorified babysitter at best. I've had other family take my kids cousins out due to terrible teachers, incidents happening right on front of them and they don't do anything about it. DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS HERE!!! it is supposed to be a Christian based child care, and I never got that vibe at all. They used to have a few good teachers but they have left and all the teachers are new and they just hire anyone cause they are so desperate.
We had both of our kids attend here and this is a great daycare and school. The teachers and staff were friendly, caring, and easy to work with. Definitely worth checking out.
If I could leave 0 stars I would. Do NOT send your kids here!
