YWCA Clark County is an incredible organization making a real impact in our community. Their support and advocacy for women, children, and families is truly inspiring. The staff and volunteers are compassionate, professional, and dedicated to empowering those they serve. Highly recommend supporting their work—they change lives every day!
I tried to go here for help because my sister recommended them and she got a ton of help from them. If you're a man though, they're pretty useless.
I would expect since this is one of the few places set up to help domestic violence victims that they would follow through with the assistance. This place offers to help you to move to safety and when you seek the help they don't even return your phone calls they shun you and treat you like garbage. After repeated calls to supervisors still nothing has been done for the person. She is still stuck in the home where she was assaulted and almost murdered and they still won't help her. She has to testify in court and does not feel safe to do so and return back to that house and they still won't help her. Huge disappointment with their services and their follow-through we need to find something better around Clark County for domestic violence victims or they will always remain victims and not a survivor. Shame on you YWCA and shame on you safechoice
A couple of years ago I had called and visited in person. Both experiences were not helpful at all. The only compliment I can give them is that the place looked very clean. Otherwise, I suggest looking for help anywhere else. They told me I have to visit in person for any help/further assistance. Then when I did visit, the receptionist and staff were very off putting. They made me feel like I was to blame when I was in a terrible situation and just really needed a kind hand. I cannot recommend this place at all and feel terrible for anyone who has looked to them as a last bit of hope.
I was referred to the Y by my therapist for emotional and legal support after facing a new issue in my life, and I am happy that I followed my therapist's directions. From my experience, the advocates at YWCA Clark County provide the best help that they are able to give to those in need. I can't speak for the full extent of services that this organization provides, but I can definitely say that their SafeChoice and Sexual Assault departments have wonderful workers. Everyone I have met here is nice, but I worked most closely with Margo and Vikki and they are both empathetic yet willing to give objective advice. They promote for women to advocate for themselves, but give any assistance they can.
