What Parents Say

Staff members are frequently commended for their quality instruction and positive interactions with children.
I reached out to the YWCA when I first filed for a Protection From Abuse (PFA) order against my husband. I was never given complete legal information about my rights or what I could request under a PFA. I specifically asked for legal guidance and emotional support in court, but no one went with me. I sat alone for two hours while my husband had an attorney beside him. When I later called for help modifying the PFA, I was told, “We only help with new PFAs.” There was no follow-up, no explanation, and no support. I understand that staff and volunteers are stretched thin. But at the very least, the person answering the phone should be able to explain what a PFA is, what someone can request under it, and what their rights are. That small effort could make a life-saving difference. Even if staff can’t personally assist, they should at least direct survivors to accurate legal or advocacy resources. Because I wasn’t properly informed, my abuser continues to indirectly harass and intimidate me seven months later. It’s a deep betrayal to be dismissed by those who are supposed to help. Their inaction allowed the abuse to continue. There should never be a time limit on when someone can receive help or legal guidance for a PFA. Whether it’s a new filing, renewal, or modification, survivors deserve ongoing support and accurate information for as long as the order is active. There should be no discrimination in whom we extend help to when it comes to domestic abuse. No survivor should ever be left without clear information or accompaniment. Lack of guidance puts lives at risk. I hope the YWCA reconsiders this policy and restores what true advocacy means. “Learn to do good; seek justice, relieve the oppressed, defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.” — Isaiah 1:17 (TLV)
Always a pleasure going here. Easy parking, required code entry doors, locker availability, decent showers, pool water is usually tepid. I would love to see them get a salt water pool!
This organization ignored concerns I had over my childcare, then mysteriously lost my family's holiday donation and THEN expelled my son for me being upset about these things with ZERO discussion, the director is an absolute monster with an ego bigger than the sky.
They do fantastic job with swim lessons!
My daughter has gone here for the last 3 years she absolutely loves it. Their PRE-K program was amazing with 2 great teachers, Mr. Justin and Mrs. Marryann, they are wonderful, and my child lives them. Every encounter I have had here has been nothing but positive. Even their summer camp for the kids is a great way for the children to stay active and do new things while you are stuck at work or just need a break. Would recommend them anyday.
