I've decided to update my 'anonymous' post from a different account since there won't be enough space. It was said to my housing advocate by the case worker that they sent me a non renewal bc of non payment of rent but I was paying them and adding in extra for back rent. Then it was stated that it was also bc I reported the owner of the property to code enforcement for no heat which happened after I was sent the notice. That it's against their policy for me to not report it to them first. I knew that didn't sound accurate so I gathered my documents to find that it wasn't. Seeing how they've dealt with issues in the past with the owner of the property getting away with doing things she shouldn't (they also knew of tenants accusing her of being racist for whatever reason but my issue with her was violating my tenant rights & I wouldn't be surprised if it's bc she is racist) and not being heard, why would I go to them again about the same problem I went to them about around the time I moved in. Btw to add insult to injury, I was sent those non renewals around the time of my birthday & while I've been grieving. I'm planning to get an attorney as well as share with the media. The case worker also stated that there is no lease, but I received one once I joined the program. The are trying to get away with evicting by stating they are the only lease holders on the apartments but we sign documation prior to being in the program. Based on that information, I shouldn't be evicted from the program & it's clear it's due to retaliation. As stated before, since they don't want to pay me to move & emotional distress, the least they could've done was wait until I have housing since there is a waitlist so now I have to take it to another level. For the new comers, make sure you cover yourself bc they will do anything they can to paint a negative picture of you & the corruption runs deeper than you think. I've been lied on for long enough. Luckily I have the evidence I need. You're better off applying for public housing or relocating to a different state. If you're in need of a supportive environment, find out what resources are out there. Good luck.

After an abusive relationship & being homeless I relocated upstate & was thankful to get into a shelter but it was temporary. I came across a lovely woman at Elis hosipital who was helping me with housing, she told me about this place which I thought would be a good fit also bc I'm on the spectrum (something else I don't like sharing unless I have to) & in need of a supportive environment. I was accepted due to having employment & they had a bed available at the working shelter house. Due to a couple of incidents I had with two of the women there, I noticed favoritism & bullying/intimidation when I decide to advocate myself. When I went to the residential side only bc the woman who was messing with me didn't want to move into her own apartment, I took the offer. I was thankful to have been able to have my own space & can freely move about without sneaking to use the bathroom late at night hoping everyone is asleep & going downstairs after hours to heat up food. Towards my third year there was major safety issues involving a tenant in the program that had one of her boyfriends living with her which they also knew of, there was drug activity & her boyfriend shot in the air in front of the house. It was brought to Tami attention & Nalinee who is the caseworker & stated I have video evidence. I was so uncomfortable when they moved in that I put a camera infront of my door. Then my tenant rights keep being violated by the owner of the property which they also knew of but did nothing. It started to affect my mental health so bad that I could no longer hold on to a fulltime job & my hygenie hasn't been good & haven't been eating much that's why I kept looking for counseling (I didn't want to use their counselor anymore bc I was worried about who I can trust there) but wasn't finding the help so it became worse & worse. Serveral months passed & it became even worse. I received threats from the woman bc she found out I said something to them. I told them & they did nothing. I spoke to my mentor who directed me on what I should do. It lead to me going over Tami head & speaking to her boss then I ended up being the one who had to move from a place I called my home. There is more to it but to try to sum this up as much as possible so I don't run out of space, there was retaliation from bringing in a third party so he told me to report them to dhr (I put not only them in the complaint but the current owner of the property & upstairs neighbors) & let them know I have proof of my claims. They found out & have given me a non renewal tenancy notice. I'm going to be homeless, whats worse during winter for speaking up for my safety, for my rights. If they didn't want to compensate me for the emotional distress it would've been decent to be given the time to save up & find a different program. On top of all of this I've been grieving a loss. At times none of this feels real & wish I could fall asleep & not have to wake up bc no matter the dream I feel safer bc I'm with ppl or a person that care. I wish I would've taken what others were saying seriously as I wasn't the only one who filed a complaint but I'm sure they found a way to cover that one up as well. I strongly believe it will come back to every person who had a hand in it. If you are also in need of support, there are better programs but you will more than likely have to relocate to a different state to receive help. Unfortunately corruption is rampant in nys.Be careful out there.
